Role Purpose
The role purpose of Senior Exam Business Development Manager in the British Council Indonesia is to develop and deliver the multi-year market led, integrated cross portfolio Business Development and Sales strategy aligned with Global/Regional Exams strategy working with other British Council colleagues to leverage opportunities and create value. This role is ultimately responsible for building and managing demand leading on the go to market planning, sales and account management of assessment and developing education reform opportunities which builds the profile of the British Council as an authority in learning and assessment and drives income and impact in Indonesia. By extension, the role also ensures excellent B2B Customer Service and quality of B2C customer experience.
Where the most senior Exams representative in Country, this role will also sit on Country Senior Management
Team and oversee performance & team working of Exams on the ground.

- As part of a wider SBU or country team, contributes to the development and delivery of customised, local business development initiatives (within a specific area of product/
- Analyses and assimilates multiple commercial data sets and indicators (e.g. profitability, market dynamics, competitive potential, volumes, sales effectiveness,
business development activity.
Market and customer intelligence
- Monitors local market-, customer- and related information and feedback relevant to their area of focus, to support the maintenance of BC’s commercial competitive edge and
- Keeps updated and has extensive knowledge of the market within their area of focus, from both a supply and demand perspective.

- Agree Customer Services requirements and review effectiveness
- Lead contribution into Demand Planning, achieving high levels of sales forecasting accuracy and embed Global framework at Country/Geography level
- Assess market, identify market opportunities/needs using marketing insights to develop & deliver audience led BD & Sales strategy, priorities & plan;
- Agree Marketing Plan and review effectiveness
- As part of a wider team, provides professional input to support the development of high quality, competitive and customer/market-focused bids, tender submissions, programme
- Recognises limits of own knowledge and draws appropriately on the technical/ professional/ functional expertise needed from other colleagues to ensure local business
priorities and plans
- Manage and review effectiveness of partnership (agency) model and input into physical foot print strategy
- Assists in the planning, establishment and maintenance of nominated account/ stakeholder/ partner or sponsor relationships, in accordance with the relationship strategy and
- Deliver income/surplus targets, working with Operations on commercial feasibility
- Builds effective working relationships with a variety of SBU and regional colleagues, and a range of information-gathering techniques, to maintain a full and current understanding
- Contributes to the planning, monitoring, execution and evaluation of promotional, marketing, PR and outreach collateral/activities within their area of
- Lead and embed excellent Business Pursuit and Account Relationship Management aligned with Global/Regional frameworks
- May contribute to the development, delivery or commissioning of externally supplied training support to maintain and improve business development effectiveness of colleagues
- Plans and prioritises own work activities to ensure effective delivery of diverse responsibilities and internal customer deliverables over a monthly to quarterly time horizon
- May be formal line manager to a small, local team of more junior staff
- Embed effective Team performance and new ways of working on the ground and lead empowerment/decision making at the right level
- Shares intelligence and ideas to support senior managers in identifying/ developing new business development strategies and plans.
Demonstrable experience, in large complex international organisation of:
- Confidence and clarity in communication both with internal and external managers and stakeholders (desirable)
- Managing long-term relationships with external stakeholders (desirable)
- Experience of managing a team
- Experience collecting and analyzing client/stakeholder feedback and using the data to identify business needs and obstacles; works to resolve them.
- Selling and influencing with senior managers, evidenced by a record of significant business wins (desirable)
- Experience of sustaining and/or growing a product/service in line with strategic priorities for income and impact
- Degree in any relevant field / Relevant work experience in a business development role
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Indonesian language
