Responsibilities

Trent International Recruitment Representative:

This is a contract position for Trent University through Centennial College for a regional student recruitment representative for Southeast Asia, serving the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Kingdom of Thailand, and other Southeast Asia Countries, with the expressed aim of providing the duties and services outlined in this contract for Trent University. The successful candidate will be under the direct supervision of the Regional Recruitment Manger, Southeast Asia. They will also communicate and collaborate with the leadership team at Trent International to follow an annual plan of strategies and activities in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Kingdom of Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities include the following:

Recruitment, Outreach, and Conversion

  • Recruit prospective agents, and provide ongoing engagement, training, and support to partner educational agencies to ensure effective market engagement and brand development for Trent University in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Kingdom of Thailand . The candidate may also need to provide support for Trent University’s partner agencies in other countries within the Southeast Asia region from time to time.
  • Proactively reach out to local public/private educational institutions and schools to develop student recruitment initiatives, including but not limited to articulation agreements and partnerships.
  • Engage Trent University alumni in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Kingdom of Thailand and develop opportunities for alumni members to contribute to in-country initiatives and events.
  • Represent Trent University by planning and participating in student recruitment, conversion, and outreach activities under the supervision of the Regional Recruitment Manager and the Trent Recruitment Manager. These include in-person or virtual school visits, education fairs, educational agency visits (both prospective and existing partners), agent appreciation events, government meetings, alumni outreach, and other ad-hoc initiatives. Events and activities in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Kingdom of Thailand will take priority; however, the candidate may also need to provide support in other countries within the Southeast Asia region from time to time as directed.
  • Expand, manage, and support a network of prospective students, educational agencies, guidance counsellors, Trent University alumni, trade ambassadors, and other stakeholders in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Kingdom of Thailand and Southeast Asia . The recruitment of students to Trent University’s ESL, undergraduate, and postgraduate certificate students will be prioritized.

Marketing and Social Media

  • Supporting the logistics of mailing campaigns in the region.
  • Liaise with Trent International to communicate recruitment, admissions, and marketing-related issues and concerns, and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Create, develop, and execute marketing, promotional, and communication campaigns to audiences in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Kingdom of Thailand , in collaboration with Trent International (in particular, the International Marketing Coordinator and Marketing Assistants).

Admissions

  • Provide support to Trent University’s admissions team to ensure that prospect applications are complete and assessed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding and knowledge of Trent University’s international admission requirements (including course-specific and language requirements), and guide prospects through the application process to the University.
  • Effectively use information and data in Trent University’s student management systems (e.g., Colleague and IRIS report) to track student statuses, and to propose, plan, and execute recruitment, admission, conversion, and other campaigns in different settings.

Reporting and Record-Keeping

  • Participate in weekly meetings with Trent International to provide the latest updates and developments in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Kingdom of Thailand .
  • Maintain a monthly record of events, meetings, and activities for record-keeping purposes. Submit travel reports for all recruitment activities and events.

Targets

Under the direction of the Regional Recruitment Manager and the Trent International Recruitment Manager, strive to meet the specified targets for the region set by Trent for each academic intake and year.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Candidates must have a degree or diploma in a related field – Business, Marketing, etc. Master’s degree (MBA) preferred 
  • 3-5 years of experience in college or university recruitment, educational marketing, student counseling, and/or admissions
  • Experience with, or advanced knowledge about, the Canadian or North American higher education system will be considered a distinct advantage
  • Advanced computer skills – email, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other online interfaces
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional presentation and public speaking skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with proven ability to work independently with limited direct supervision
  • Ability and willingness to undertake extensive travel – approximately a 50% commitment in time – within Southeast Asia
  • Friendly, honest, trustworthy and self-disciplined with excellent project management abilities
