Worley is in bid phase for a mining project based in Indonesia. Worley has supported the project’s feasibility study and has now been engaged to undertake civil detailed design for earthworks and roads. Worley is in discussions for additional packages of work and is looking for expressions of interest for a Contract Manager for a commitment of 2+ years with the opportunity to extend.

As the Contract Manager on this project, you will advise on all legal, commercial, contractual issues to all members of the Project.

Additional Responsibilities Will Include

• Participate in contractual and/or commercial audits as required
• Arranging close-out of contracts, including settlement of claims
• Advising and working closely with our Project Managers
• Draft Tender Board items on behalf of the Client and ensure smooth passage of same through Tender Board
• Advise on commercial aspects of claims made by Sub-Contractor(s) to Client and negotiate or assist in negotiations
• Quality Assurance – responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system
• Timely processing of Contractor correspondence
• Advise Project Cost controllers on updated financial information for budget and/or cost control purposes
• Liaising with other disciplines as required such as Legal, Project Management, Project Services, Engineering in reviewing and recommending Claims resolutions
• Handling all Commercial, Contractual and Legal issues
• Lead and oversee the effective operation of the Contracts team
• Managing and registering Contract Correspondence
• Safety – responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the Project. Understand and follow OH&S procedures
• Assistance with all aspects of the Contracting and Procurement process including but not limited to pre-qual, tender, document preparation, award, variation, and post contract administration
• Ensure scope increases are duly recognized and documented
• Act as liaison with other functions, e.g. Legal, Insurance, Tax, Customs
• Lead negotiations with Contractors to successful conclusions
• Maintain integrity of Vale Contracting Policies and Procedures
• Assist Materials Management team in negotiations with Vendors to achieve successful conclusions

About You

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess a combination of work experience, skills and or qualifications in the following areas:

• Excellent communication skills.
• Prior experience in the mining or resources industry is advantageous.
• Work as part of a multi-discipline team.
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Law, Business Administration or similar
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in contract management.
• A successful track record in tendering and contract management.
• Knowledge of commercial practices, legal principles and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage contractual/commercial activities to preserve owner/client interests
• Experience in review, analysis, defence, preparation and resolution of Contractor claims
• Industry Specific Experience:
• Have the experience and skills to set the standard and drive the rest of the team to excel in HSE
• HSE Capability:
• Familiarisation with dispute resolution procedures and administration
