One of the biggest FMCG companies is currently seeking a Head of Legal and ESG to support their business in Indonesia. This job will be based in Jakarta.

About The Head Of Legal And ESG Role

You will manage all legal activities pertaining to the corporation, contracts management, and present legal documents and agreements to the stakeholders, as well as become the face of the company to the government, third parties and relevant institutions. This role reports to General Counsel and the CEO of the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the rest of the regional legal team on global initiatives  
• Proactively provide legal opinion as needed, conduct legal research and where necessary, work with outside counsel for advice on complex matters and local laws/regulations
• Represent and/or guide the representation of company interests in dealing with local governmental authorities 
• Provide local legal support the concentrate plant in Indonesia
• Manage and ensure compliance of corporate secretarial works, including main investment licenses
• Provide proactive and creative strategic and tactical legal counselling and support, advice and assist in problem resolution on a timely basis. Work as part of cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives to achieve business result in the right way
• Review and approve all marketing initiatives including all labels, claims, packaging, advertising, campaigns and promotional mechanics and terms and conditions, public affairs and consumer communications
• Draft, review, and negotiate key legal contracts to achieve business objectives, minimise risk and ensure compliance with company policies, laws, and regulations 
• Develop and support efficiency opportunities within the legal function to enhance the agility and effectiveness of the legal function
• Ensure compliance with company policy and provide proper training and support in the areas of corporate governance, including but not limited to code of business conduct, anti-bribery compliance, supplier guiding principles, FCPA, trade sanctions, anti-trust, privacy policy and other policies
• Provide litigation assessment counselling and risk mitigation advice
• Participate in all cross-functional projects on innovation, new product launches and development 

To succeed in this Head of Legal and ESG role, you must have a leadership behaviour, growth mindset, strong commercial acumen and ready to have a regional experience with across jurisdiction.

Key Requirements

• Experience working in dairy/agriculture/livestock industry will be prioritised
• Strong ethics and high personal integrity
• Qualified lawyer in Indonesia with overall 9 - 13 years' experience working in an international law firm (minimum of six to eight years) or FMCG company
• Strong business and commercial acumen
• Hardworking, driven, motivated and ability to take the initiative are key to perform in this role
• Ability to communicate effectively and explain complex legal issues in a simple way
• Ability to successfully work in cross-functional teams
• Solid negotiations skills
• Results-driven, disciplined and excellent in multitasking, able to get things done
• Highly persuasive and influential
• Ability to deal with multiple priorities, both at strategic and operational level
