Job Description
Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:


  • Ensure local education stakeholders are made aware of MOD activity likely to impact on local schools and promote MOD funding opportunities.
  • Provide secretarial support to, and work with, the Scottish Armed Forces Education Support Group (SAFESG) to identify and address any issues around Armed Forces children’s education. Refer to AFFS for MOD policy and guidance in this area of work.
  • Lead on the Lived Experience ‘welfare ‘theme.
  • Develop and sustain support for Armed Forces (AF) children in Scotland, ln order to identify and address education issues affecting tri-service children.
  • Support AFFS in their ongoing review of governance arrangements for childcare settings on the Defence Estate in Scotland.
  • Work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to co-ordinate welfare activity and manage all RPoC Welfare meetings.
  • Responsible for the dissemination of all Armed Forces Children Education Policy and Guidance updates to Units
  • Work in partnership with local councils across and other key stakeholders to deliver the Armed Forces Covenant.
  • Facilitate meetings and co-ordinate with partners to identify and share initiatives and good practice in support of the AF community and AF Covenants.
  • Manage the Bde Welfare Fund.
  • Remain alert to emerging issues and trends which might impact operational efficiencies. Including barriers to educational provision for Service Children
