About the Opportunity

We develop tools for other developers. That means we need developers ourselves. But not just any developers – we need people who can do more than just implement what they are told. We need people who can think about the future and create

Duration

• At least two hours per day
• Part-time
• Remote
• 3 months

Opportunity Responsibilities

• Write well designed, testable code
• Envisioning system features and functionality
• Design, implement and maintain Java-based content that can be high-volume and low-latency
• Create detailed design documentation
• Conducting software analysis, programming, testing, and debugging
• Identify and resolve any technical issues
• Develop documentation to help users (in conjunction with our user support folks)
• Propose changes to current Java infrastructure
• Prepare and produce releases of software components
• Contribute to all stages of software development lifecycle
• Develop and test software
• Support continuous improvement, investigating alternatives and technologies, and presenting for architectural review

Opportunity Requirements

Proficiency in Java, with a good understanding of:

• File IO and serialization
• Constructors, lists, maps, sets
• Able to create reusable Java libraries
• Experience with continuous integration
• Ability to write clean, readable Java code
• Understanding of building tools like Ant, Maven, Gradle, etc
• Experience in handling external and embedded databases
• Understanding basic design principles behind a scalable application
• Experience implementing unit tests / with automated testing platforms
• Familiarity with different design and architectural patterns
• Knowledge of code versioning tools, for instance, Git
• Skilled at creating database schemas that characterize and support business processes
• Abstract classes and interfaces
• Exceptions Generics Java Keywords like static, volatile, synchronized, transient, etc
