Role Overview
AGA is currently seeking a full-time Senior Associate to be based in our Jakarta office. The Senior
Associate will assume a high degree of project responsibility and lead daily client and stakeholder
engagements within our Indonesia portfolio. S/he is also expected to play a key role in mentorship
and management of junior team members and lead client development work. The candidate we seek will have expertise in policy and stakeholder engagement in Indonesia and demonstrable connectivity with relevant agencies of the Indonesian government. S/he should have experience in project and team management and in communicating with senior business executives. S/he must have outstanding research skills and be able to demonstrate written English fluency in policy, political and issue analysis. The ideal candidate would have prior experience in government relations, corporate affairs, or strategic communications and possess a master’s degree in business, economics, international relations, communications, law, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Building, maintaining, and managing client relationships as a trusted advisor to provide strategic advice and ensure client satisfaction
- Mentoring and developing junior consultants
- Structuring and proposing solutions and strategies to client challenges and issues and successfully implementing these strategies in pursuit of our client's interests
- Leading AGA’s project work, including workstream structuring, research, facilitating problem-solving discussion,presentation toclients, and ensuring all deliverables are up to the highest quality
- Building strong networks and relationships with bureaucrats and public officials, the business community, civil society organizations, government institutions, and other relevant stakeholders
- Supporting business development efforts, including the drafting of proposals and participation in pitches
- Overseeing the preparation, drafting, and finalization of analytical reports
- Working on special projects as needed and assigned
Desired skills and experience
- Flexibility and adaptability to constantly changing priorities; capable of managing and making informed decisions in often ambiguous circumstances
- Strong interpersonal negotiation and communication skills, including experience in cross-cultural environments and international settings
- Written fluency in policy, political economics, and issue analysis in Indonesia for a business audience
- A dynamic, self-starter personality capable of operating both independently and in a team setting
- Seven or more years of progressive experience in government relations, corporate affairs and/or government in Indonesia, either in-house or in a consulting capacity
- Fluent in English and Indonesian, both written and oral (fluency in Mandarin is an advantage)
- Deep networks with government and business stakeholders, coupled with a high-level understanding of the investment and policy climate in Indonesia
- Demonstrated experience in managing client teams and mentoring junior consultants
