Role Context
The primary focus of the Recruitment Manager East Asia US Specialist – Private Partners position will be to promote and drive sales growth across INTO’s US private partner portfolio (pathways & direct entry) and all supplementary products. The private partner portfolio consists of Drew University, Saint Louis University, Suffolk University, and Hofstra University.
This individual will work in coordination with INTO’s East Asia regional office teams and the US based university center staff to proactively develop initiatives and identify opportunities that will help exceed enrollment goals to these private university partners. In addition, the successful applicant brings with them an understanding of the international school system in East Asia and is comfortable working with and supporting college counselors throughout the region.
The priority and focus markets for this role are Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. The role will also provide support to Regional Office staff and recruitment activities in Japan, Malaysia, Other Indo China and the Philippines.
Region-wide travel and occasional international travel outside of the region will be necessary. Flexibility is required to meet the demands of the post, including regular evening and weekend work.
Location
The INTO East Asia (EA) Regional Office Network consists of staff and offices in Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. In addition to this, the teams service and conduct regular recruitment activities in Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines and Singapore.
This position will be based in one of the INTO University Partnership East Asia Offices.
Key Accountabilities
The following tasks provide a general overview of the types of activity the successful applicant will be expected to engage in on a day-to-day basis. The tasks are not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities as the nature of our business requires all employees to be flexible, dynamic and to have the capacity to think creatively when presented with challenges.
Relationship Management
- Act as subject matter expert to all East Asia based team members on all private partners. Serve as the private partner go-to market expert for INTO’s regional and centre-based staff.
- Prepare and deliver recruitment and marketing reports to key stakeholders in the regional office and at the universities. Keep colleagues up to date on performance and progress towards revenue targets.
- Collaborate with INTO’s East Asia Regional Offices in executing the strategic recruitment plans for our US Private university partners. This includes establishing a strong rapport with INTO regional teams who manage key agent and counselor accounts.
- Provide on-going training, updates and support to the East Asia regional office staff on our private partners. Ensuring staff fully understand the student journey, scholarships, outcomes, locations etc.
- Support US Private university partners in developing a strategic recruitment plan across East Asia region. This includes regular communications (calls, emails, in-market visits) with private university colleagues in the US to understand their recruitment plans and priorities.
Driving Recruitment Strategies
- Manage and track recruitment and travel budget for this role, as well as supporting university partners who travel into the East Asia market.
- Travel extensively across East Asia to promote our US private universities, and in doing so, support the recruitment efforts of INTO East Asia’s regional offices.
- Collaborate with INTO’s Marketing / Communications staff to develop marketing materials and tools to drive enrollment to our private university partners.
- Cultivate and maintain solid, loyal relationships with recruitment channels including education counselors, sponsoring organizations, articulation partners, feeder institutions and prestigious international high schools.
- Develop a comprehensive recruitment and marketing plan that includes participation in global recruitment activities (i.e. exhibitions, seminars, expos, educational counselor trainings, etc.) to represent our US private university partners and drive their brands.
- Work with in-market alumni networks to develop marketing and local alumni events in market.
- Use analytical methods (quantitative and qualitative) to identify recruitment risk and opportunities.
- Monitor market trends (i.e. impacts of geopolitical challenges, exchange rates, visa office openings, etc.) and offer feedback on competitors.
- Optimize scholarship budgets and awards to generate application growth and drive conversion.
Conversion
- Support management of the conversion pipeline
- Coordinate in market and online conversion activities and pre-departure events
- Effectively utilize local social media channels to drive brand awareness across East Asia
- Optimize the awarding of scholarships to convert offer holders, including scholarship interviews and deadlines
Reporting Line
This position reports to the Regional Director North Asia & Vietnam, which is part of the greater INTO East Asia Regional office team.
Renumeration
A very competitive salary will be offered based on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be entitled to 20 days a year annual leave, time in lieu where appropriate and a highly competitive annual bonus plan.
Person specification
Essential
- A history of working with educational agencies across East Asia
- 5 years or more of experience specifically related to some aspect of US college & university admissions.
- Understanding the value of scholarships for recruitment of talented students
- Exceptional time management skills
- Demonstrable ability to meet and exceed sales and financial targets
- Understanding of the enrolment funnel and opportunities for supporting our business partners in conversion activities
- Experience selling a complex and diversified education product portfolio
- Highly refined business presentation and reporting skills in English.
- Data-driven, analytical mindset that is just as comfortable with numbers as they are with people
- Experience with customer service
- Must have the ability and willingness to travel locally and internationally
- Native-level communication in English
- Experience working with college counsellors and international schools
Desirable
- An awareness of issues in marketing educational services in an international context
- Experience collaborating with a wide range of individuals both up and down the organisation
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLookup and Macros
- Experience liaising with a geographically and culturally diverse teams
- Experience working with and an understanding of the culture of high net worth individuals in the East Asia market.
- Salesforce or other CRM management experience
- Membership in a professional organisation such as NACAC, IACAC, or HECA.
- Experience working with domestic universities, secondary schools, transnational education, and/or corporate sponsored students
- Ability to build and manage relationships with peers and senior managers
