Mine Maintenance Safety Superintendent

We are looking for a Mine Maintenance Safety Superintendent to join, a major actor in mining industry in Indonesia.

Purpose of the position:

In the frame of one of the biggest mine projects in the world, the jobholder is part of Mine Safety team in order to:

• Guarantee compliance with all local regulation’s operators’ competence, equipment and operations of the project, and contractors’ employees.
• Carries out safety inspection and follows up the resulting actions.
• Design, implement and improve measures to limit risks in the workplace as per the SMS and Workshop Safety Management System.
• Ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of essential requirements critical risks control procedures.
• Guarantee the operation of all mine maintenance workshops in safe conditions aligned with client’s and Regulatory standards.
• Manage, coach and mentor a team of safety officers to guarantee knowledge transfer, skills development, and effectiveness in execution of their duties.

Deployment of the safety policy

• Implements measures to limit risks in the workplace as per the SMS.
• Actively leads toolbox talks.
• Organize and facilitates Safety meetings within each operational Area of responsibility.
• Comply with all local regulations governing operators’ competence, equipment and operations of the client and contractors’ employees.
• Standardizes safety best practice and processes across area of responsibility.

Evaluate the safety conditions

• Ensure HPI (High Potential Incident) & HPO (High Potential Occurrence ) are all recognized, reported and investigated.
• Investigate accidents or incidents to identify root causes and recommend and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Carries out safety inspection and follows up the resulting actions.
• Identifies & supports corrective and preventive actions following field visits.
• Plans and monitors compliance with the safety management system in the field.
• Perform Safety Interactions.
• Identify training needs and plan training sessions for operations participants (employees & contractors).

Team management, coordination

• Is responsible for safety communication (top-down / bottom-up).
• Identifies and coordinates all training needs for assigned team.
• Manages, organizes and mobilizes teams in the deployment of safety objectives.
• Develops the safety culture at all levels of its scope.

About you:

• Proven experience implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures on the field
• B.Sc. or Master’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related discipline,
• Fluent in English (Chinese appreciated)
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mining, oil & gas or industrial companies
• Mechanical technical/ engineering qualification advantageous (but not mandatory)
• Demonstrated safety experience working in Mobile equipment or Mechanical Maintenance facilities (workshops).
• Proven experience working in a multicultural environment and in challenging and dynamic operating environments
