Disaster Risk Reduction And Climate Change Adaptation Lead

Deloitte Consulting LLP, headquartered in Arlington, VA, is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Lead for the anticipated USAID Indonesia ENV New Adaptation program. This multi-year USAID-funded initiative will focus on sustainable management and financing of climate-resilience.

Position Summary:

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Lead will be responsible for:

• Leading a team of specialists who may cover the following areas of expertise:
• Working with national government agencies to promote disaster and climate risk management.
• Ensuring project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
• Leading strategic direction, implementation, and reporting of activities to support the Government of Indonesia’s efforts to integrate disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation in sub-national core development plans and investments.

1. Governance streamlining
2. Climate resilient land use planning
3. Municipal and community engagement
4. Climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction
5. Capacity building

Project activities will be focused in the following provinces: North Sumatra, Banten, East Java, DKI Jakarta, East Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, West Kalimantan and Papua.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, business, global development, environmental science, or other related fields; Master’s degree preferred.
• Prior experience with USAID-funded programs, including knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to work across a wide range of government, civil society, local, donor, and multilateral counterparts.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• 10 years of professional experience Indonesia in climate adaptation or disaster risk reduction.
