Sustainable Palm Oil Specialist

The Sustainable Oil Palm Specialist leads, manages, and implements all aspects of YKAN’s oil palm program in Berau and East Kalimantan. This position is a member of Indonesia Terrestrial Program (ITP) and is accountable for oil palm related outcomes under the direction of the Sustainable Palm Oil Senior Manager. Together with other ITP managers, This position implement oil palm strategies, and influences policies that will achieve the goals and objectives described in the ITP Shared Conservation Agenda of Indonesia’s Forest Strategy. This position will work with different team members within the Indonesia Terrestrial Program, and the different units within the Indonesia country program (External Affairs, Development and Marketing, and Communication, etc.), in advancing the land conservation goals of the program in Berau and East Kalimantan.

Responsibilities

1. Leads the implementation of ITP oil palm program to achieve the goals stated in shared conservation agenda of Indonesia’s forest strategy, which includes the oil palm production and market sides.
2. Engage with the relevant government institutions, particularly at regency and provincial level with the Department of Plantation, and other organizations to support the policies on sustainable oil palm, particularly in improving a provincial and regency road map on sustainable oil palm with focus on balancing development and conservation.
3. Work with revenant partners, including Department of Plantation and association of palm oil business in Berau and East Kalimantan to strengthen the Indonesia Sustainable Oil Palm (ISPO) standard, particularly on protection of high conservation value areas.
4. Coordinate and collaborate with the relevant Global Protect Team and other teams to advance the oil palm program in Berau and East Kalimantan.
5. Supervises oil palm consultant/team in Berau and East Kalimantan.
6. Builds strategic, scientific, and technical capacity in the field
7. Engages local community support for sustainable palm oil and local conservation efforts
8. Sets key performance indicators on annual basis based on program goals and objectives, in consultation with Sustainable Palm Oil Senior Manager and key ITP members, to guide oil palm initiatives

Qualifications

1. Male or Female
2. Master or Bachelor of science in related educations
3. Minimum have 5 years experience in palm oil industry or NGO
4. Having managery/supervisory experience and proven ability to motivating, leads, and setup goals
5. Having fundraising experience
6. Mastery of Ms. Office app
7. Proficient in english
