Introduction to the role
Working for a listed global organisation to provide in-house legal and risk management services for the local corporate entity, within the APA Legal Services Team, and reporting to Head of Legal, APA.

• Provide legal guidance on legal matters to minimise exposure to liabilities and disputes
• Provide support to procurement teams for various supplier agreements
• Provide legal guidance on intellectual property compliance infringements and disputes
• Maintain records for signed agreements and other legal documents
• Prepare regular reports / perform other legal work
• Participate in global and regional Legal alignment calls and meetings
• Coordinate and align legal work in market area with other market area legal team members
• Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements in co-operation with sales teams and business teams
• Co-ordinate with external lawyers (both locally and foreign) on legal matters for selected legal matters such as disputes
• Prepare legal and corporate documents
• Ensure compliance of commercial mandates and maintain adequate records for compliance or deviation approval
• Support other market areas for legal queries related to customers or suppliers in specified MA

To succeed
Essential

• Experience and advanced understanding of contracts, commercial law, property law, industrial relations with sound understanding of compliance and corporate governance obligations
• Eye for detail while maintaining challenging time schedules
• Ability to provide results under internal and external pressure
• Law degree from an Indonesian university with admission under the Advocates Law to practice as a lawyer in Indonesia (‘Advokat’)
• Superior interpersonal, team working and communication skills including ability to develop relationships with external stakeholders. Approach of ‘getting it done together’ with legal team and broader business
• Good English and Bahasa language skills (verbal and written). Proficient skills in Mandarin desirable but not necessary.
• Minimum seven (7) years post-qualification work experience in the field of commercial law, contract law, general practice or similar fields of law (in private practice or in-house)
• Immaculate personal and professional integrity
• Ability to work independently (with Manager possibly based in different location)
• Preference for candidates with experience working in large, global organisations (but not essential)
• Ability to provide timely and accurate results for multiple tasks
• Completion of ’Special Education for Advocates’ (Pendidikan Khusus Profesi Advokat) (PKPA)
• Preference for candidates with experience practicing in established jurisdictions such as Singapore, Australia or United States of America or have extensive cross-boarder experience within Asia Pacific (but not essential)
• Experience in reviewing and negotiating complex contracts
• Experience in handling corporate and other legal documents
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Preference for candidates with experience negotiating and/or management of contracts under the laws of other jurisdictions within Asia and particularly Australia
