Job summary: Planet NetZero is seeking an accomplished Agronomist to play a pivotal role in our sustainable agriculture projects. This individual will collaborate closely with our research partners to design, implement, and oversee large-scale pilot programs. These programs aim to optimize agricultural practices, capture carbon, enhance soil health, and increase crop yields, contributing to food security on a national scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance to project partners and stakeholders on sustainable agricultural methods.
- Develop evidence-based recommendations for improving soil health and crop productivity through sustainable practices.
- Analyze trial results to derive actionable insights that inform future strategies.
- Contribute to the development of best practices for replicating successful pilot program strategies across different crops.
- Lead the planning and structuring of large-scale sustainable agriculture pilot programs.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging research, and innovative approaches to sustainable agriculture.
- Collaborate with research partners to ensure accurate data collection during the trials.
- Design and execute comprehensive field trials to evaluate the impact of various agricultural practices on carbon capture, soil health and crop yields.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure the successful implementation of pilot programs, adhering to sustainable agricultural principles.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Familiarity with sustainable agricultural practices and their impact on food security.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in designing and conducting field trials, including data collection and analysis.
- Demonstrated, minimum five years expertise in agronomy, encompassing soil health management, crop physiology, and plant nutrition.
- An innovative mindset aligned with sustainable practices.
- Previous involvement in sustainable agriculture projects.
- Extensive travel on site
- Problem-solving skills and adaptability.
- Strong project management skills, capable of orchestrating complex pilot programs.
- Experience in rice agriculture is a plus.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for data analysis and project management.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
Fieldwork Expectations: This position entails extensive periods of time spent in the field for data collection, trial management, and collaboration with local communities. The candidate should be comfortable with fieldwork conditions and travel as needed.
