POSITION SUMMARY:
AccelByte is seeking a passionate Senior Designer Manager to join our team and lead the design discipline within the company. As the Senior Designer Manager, you will lead and manage designers, establish a positive design discipline culture, align the team around best practices for UX and Visual Media Design and bring our brand vision to life through visual and product design. The ideal candidate will be able to inspire confidence within designers throughout the company, provide meaningful subject matter expertise and leadership to the team and work with other company leaders to ensure the design discipline is effective in helping the company reach our goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Designer Manager is accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:
- Audit, improve and maintain design tools and processes to improve team effectiveness.
- Hire, mentor and manage a team of visual media and UX designers, and create clear paths for career progression.
- Establish a unified design discipline within AccelByte.
- Establish and maintain usability standards.
- Own the design discipline’s relationship with internal stakeholders including Product, Platform, Engineering, Marketing, and Professional Services.
- Establish metrics and measurable goals to ensure team effectiveness and visibility of the discipline’s impact on the business.
- Establish and maintain best practices and style guides for visual media and UX design.
- Establish and maintain clear usability feedback loops with customers and internal stakeholders that empower cyclical improvement of UX across all of our products.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Proficiency in written and verbal English language to succeed in a remote work environment.
- Passion for DesignOps and how to build, scale, train, and refine teams, tools, and processes/deliverables that help the team be more efficient, scalable, and enjoyable.
- Experience working in the game industry preferred.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and timelines in a fluid environment, bearing high levels of responsibility and accountability while keeping the best interests of the business in sight.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media, UX Design or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in a multinational technology startup preferred.
- Flexibility to adjust to work routines/schedules, as required, to meet the needs of the company and expectations of customers.
- 10+ years as a designer in a SaaS company.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, allowing for open, honest, and consistent communication.
- Cognitive skills to include the ability to think critically, learn, to process thoughts and apply knowledge, to analyze and reason, and to evaluate and make appropriate decisions to achieve business goals and solve problems.
- 5+ years of experience leading teams and a strong ability to coach employees, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers.
- Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner, protecting the organization’s value.
