Job Description

Recoolit is looking for a Logistics Analyst.

In this role, you would be reporting to our Logistics Manager, and would also be working with senior leadership and our Business Development team to continue to grow, systematize and automate our logistics operations and practices.

Recoolit

We are an early-stage startup on a mission to prevent climate change in the air conditioning industry, by selling carbon credits. Our founding team and early leaders bring experience from Apple, Airbnb, and Silicon Valley startups, and we are backed by leading US climate investors. We have a working product, actual customers and real revenue. Now we are growing our logistics team to improve our operations into one with a world-class standard.

Our business has two sides. On the supply side, we partner in Indonesia with building owners, equipment manufacturers like Daikin, professional organizations, and individual HVAC technicians. These partners use our software to track their sustainable refrigerant management practices. On the demand side, we sell carbon credits to businesses, individuals, and non-profit foundations all over the world. Buyers of our credits can view detailed reports about their purchase, including who collected the refrigerants, for what reason, and all the details of the journey from collection to destruction.

The Position

This is a key position for Recoolit with a wide range of responsibilities. We are a small, high-performing team where each of us must see the big picture and contribute broadly across the organization, including in unglamorous ways. As a relatively junior role, you will receive lots of direction and mentorship, but we will expect you to grow quickly and take initiative, and eventually specialize in a more narrow function as the team grows.

Overall, the Logistics team is responsible for ensuring that our supply side functions smoothly. This involves:

  • Warehouse management: Recoolit operates a centralized warehouse where we store equipment and recovered refrigerant, and perform various operations. The Logistics team must manage and standardize the way it operates and implement relevant operational improvements to support business and operational growth.
  • Partnerships: The Logistics team is responsible for working with partners in the transportation, waste management, and equipment supply industries to ensure end-to-end project success.
  • Working with internal teams: The Logistics team works closely with other teams including Business Development, on project execution, and Product, on development and improvements to our software platform.
  • Equipment management: Refrigerant recovery equipment is highly specialized and we provide it for free to our partners. The Logistics team must identify needs, find vendors, procure equipment, ensure it remains in good condition, track its status and location, and transport it around Indonesia.
  • Technical advice: Refrigerant recovery, storage, and transfers are not rocket science but understanding and improving best practices requires technical know-how. We have advisors on these questions, but the Logistics team is responsible for executing, troubleshooting, and systematizing these best practices.

Your responsibilities as a Logistics Analyst will include (but not be limited to):

  • Ensuring that periodic targets are achieved by doing whatever it takes, including by conducting occasional project site and/or warehouse visits (and executing some actual project-site/warehouse works to a limited extent as a backup), within budget and time constraints, to anticipate and fulfill demand for tools/technologies needed to execute refrigerant-capture-and-destruction projects.
  • Building, improving, and, together with our software team, automating, Recoolit’s logistics management system and practices.
  • Communicating, and maintaining relationships, with internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve business and operational goals.
  • Monitoring the quality of (and coordinating actions to revise) project data, crucial to maintain Recoolit’s value proposition as a high-quality carbon credit supplier.
  • Pushing the boundaries of refrigerant-capture practices in Indonesia, including by conducting in-house experiments and field trials on state-of-the-art refrigerant capture methodologies already implemented in advanced countries.

In order to maximize your chance of success in carrying out the above responsibilities, your profile would need to match the following description:

  • You are aware that climate change is happening, but you refuse to believe that there is nothing we can do: you are passionate to join us to (attempt to) ensure that human civilization survives and thrives, by bending the climate curve.
  • You are a strong communicator and team player. You are able to communicate and work productively with many kinds of people from different backgrounds and personalities, from foreign executives to freelance technicians. You love receiving feedback and you don’t take it personally. You exhibit an above-average level of maturity, wisdom and pragmatism.
  • Your bachelor-level education was in engineering or science. It is a plus point if the education equipped you with a deep understanding on the characteristics and behaviors of compressed gases and HSE concepts/practices, with a little bit of commerce.
  • You are data-literate and detail-oriented, but also manage not to lose track of the big picture.
  • You are a structured thinker, and you attack problems with a high degree of analytical rigor. When executing on your plans, you are able to flexibly cater your approach and attitude towards your audience and in the face of new information.
  • You are digitally literate to a high degree, comfortable learning new tools and automating repetitive tasks, and know your way around a spreadsheet including formulas and pivot tables. Any programming or scripting experience is a big plus.
  • You communicate proficiently in English. Your level of English mastery enables you to think in English (instead of thinking in Bahasa Indonesia then translating your thinking into English while you communicate). You have the linguistic skills to discuss complex/abstract concepts in English, including with native English speakers.

We are searching for unapologetic high-achievers with huge ambitions to “move the earth” and make a difference. We are looking for those "nails that stick out, but refuse to get hammered down."

This position is open to fresh graduates, but 1-5 years of work experience is preferred. Either way, we will be looking for evidence of exceptional ability and ambition:

  • If you are a young professional with 1-5 years of work experience: You were a high-achiever with huge ambitions during your time as a student (see the above description), and you have continued that approach into the workplace. You work hard (maybe harder than anyone else) to prove your worth. You perform at a high level and give concrete results. You deliberately get out of your comfort zone, constantly searching for opportunities to be better. You are hungry for learning and feedback. You tirelessly propose initiatives and improvement suggestions and are not discouraged when it’s challenging to implement them. Your leaders and peers are convinced, or at least beginning to believe, that you have high potential to be the future of your organization.
  • If you are a fresh graduate: During your time as a student, you were not just a face in the crowd. You won a lot of competitions. Or you were a "Mahasiswa Berprestasi". Or you led organizations, inspired many other people, and made long-lasting impacts. Or you pioneered and initiated movements/projects which other students do not dare to kick-start. Or you did a lot of internships (instead of enjoying your long holiday). Or you probably had to apply for countless scholarships or even start a business while studying because otherwise you would not be able to pay for your tuition fees.

This position is full-time, based in our office in Jakarta (Kuningan area).
