FMDV - Global Fund for Cities Development is a non-for-profit global network of local and regional governments established with the mission to promote and operationalise transformative solutions to finance sustainable urban transitions. Since 2021, FMDV has reinforced its presence in Southeast Asia with a permanent representative based in Jakarta, in particular to coordinate FMDV’s activities as part of the Smart Green ASEAN Cities (SGAC) program, an EU-funded initiatives implemented by the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).FMDV is looking for a full-time consultant to support research, data collection and knowledge management in support of the program’s capacity building and knowledge exchange activities.
Responsibilities
a. Undertake program-related desk review data collection and analysis of national and local urban
development contexts and the landscape of subnational finance in up to four ASEAN Member States.
b. Contribute to the production of communications outputs (newsletters, blog articles, social media posts) and practical knowledge and awareness building materials for ASEAN municipal governments (e.g. stakeholder mapping, factsheets, infographics, case studies etc.)
c. Support the preparation of training materials and reporting documents of capacity building
activities with municipal authorities and urban and/or finance practitioners (webinars, workshops, master classes), including the preparation of presentation materials, design of the modules and training delivery etc..
d. Map and compile of good practices and innovative financing models from other European and ASEAN cities across several “smart and green” thematic clusters (waste management, water and sanitation, smart mobility and air quality, smart tourism), and lead the drafting of compelling case studies.
e. Coordinate the development of a knowledge base platform for ASEAN cities, which include the management of relevant databases and repository of case studies, as well the design and the structuration of the platform.
f. Supporting the team with external partners engagements, including the writing of brief notes, PPTs, memos, minutes as well as preparing of other supporting material and providing logistical support.
Qualifications
● University degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s degree or equivalent) in urban planning, economic development, sustainable finance, international development, or related fields.
● A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in the areas of international development, urban planning and governance, or public finance, either for a public entity, a financial institution, an NGO or a consulting firm. Previous experience in dealing with municipal governments and/or development finance institutions will be an added advantage.
● Good understanding of urban development issues in Southeast Asia. A good knowledge of the green and climate finance ecosystem in the region is a strong asset.
● Preference is given to nationals from ASEAN Member States. International applicants permanently based in Southeast Asia will be considered.
