Job Description
A very exciting CCO - 3PL Logistics job has become available at one of the local logistics companies in Indonesia.


About The CCO - 3PL Logistics Role


Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for developing long-term strategic and goals, lead and manage all commercial activities of the business (package, bulk, transport, freight forwarding and vendor management) and ensure that profitable business growth is accelerated and that commercial success is achieved.


Key Responsibilities


  • Be responsible for the strategic succession planning, development and mentoring of internal talent to solidify the next generation of commercial business leadership and develop and maintain the positive progressive culture within the team
  • Develop the strategies to build the company's customer base, identify potential partners, and implement strategies and new market to meet the business needs of current and potential customers, Achieve gross margin goals and objectives year over year
  • Understand the value drivers of the business and identifying profitable commercial opportunities to grow revenue and market share
  • Champion and lead each new service development, from innovation through to successful implementation across each business function, to enable it to become a core part of the business
  • Maintain an awareness of external factors (including competitors, government business initiatives, current and proposed legislation in relation to commercial activities) which impact the business. Communicate such information and any subsequent changes to the Managing Director (MD) and Senior Management Team (SMT)
  • Diversify and grow the revenue base and ensure viable options are in place for long-term business sustainability
  • Communicate with all major stakeholders (internal and external) to achieve business objectives
  • Concurrently manages multiple projects and complex business opportunities with prioritisation of projects in line with business goals and objectives
  • Represent the company externally e.g. at networking events, conferences and exhibitions to enhance and strengthen the company’s profile and optimise all business development opportunities
  • Liaise with relevant internal departments to ensure that customer needs are met and that customer requirements are fully communicated throughout the business
  • Become a good and effective leader that can be the role model of the team and a good team player to move the team toward the agreed company direction
  • Review and assess the potential to develop strategic partnerships with sector specialists
  • Ensure the regular reviews are carried out with key customers, to ensure that their needs are being met and that excellent customer service is achieved and, develop future improvements/services for the customers
  • Undertake market research and analysis and produce business plans/recommendations (including all associated costs and forecasted revenue for the business), to ensure that all business development opportunities (new segment, services and markets) are optimised
  • Ensure that all commercial activities meet or improve on budget, cost, volume and efficiency targets (Key Performance Indicators) in line with business objectives
  • Assess the risks to the business of any new commercial opportunities
  • Collate and analyse business data pertaining to all commercial activities
  • Lead the commercial business team on the strategic and tactical execution of new business opportunities, short and long-term planning initiatives, increased gross margin and market share


To succeed in this role, you will need to develop and implement an innovative, growth focused commercial strategy, focusing primarily on new business opportunity that has better profitability to the company.


Key Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business, logistics, supply chain, etc.). Master's degree is a plus
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced and evolving industry
  • Proven ability to make sound business decisions, manage multiple priorities, and navigate through complex situations
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage P&L and EBITDA
  • Strong understanding of project management and budget management
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Minimum of 15 - 20 years of experience in a commercial position (Sales, Business Development and Solutions Design). Experience being a Commercial Director/CCO is preferred
  • Strong technical and commercial knowledge in contract logistics/supply chain management (Warehousing/Distribution, Trucking, Logistics)
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking, with a focus on achieving results and driving growth
