About The Role


Reporting to the Manager Water & Closure Planning, provide a leading role in strategic integrated water management development and implementation for Nickel West’s Southern Operations (Kambalda Concentrator, Kalgoorlie Smelter, and Kwinana Refinery). This role will be supported via strategic and technical oversight from the Principal Water Planning and Principal Water Engineering.


Key Focus Areas Include


  • Source-Pathway-Receptor understanding of the regional and site hydrogeological context (with a particular focus on providing technical support to Contaminated Sites workstreams)
  • Support stormwater management review, and phased improvement planning
  • Water Supply strategy and ongoing water efficiency focus
  • Operational water data collection and water balance tracking, review, and improvement
  • Water Strategy review and refresh as part of business planning processes, and development of Operational Water Plans (OWP) as per BHP Water Standard requirements
  • Provide leadership for sustaining a strong health and safety culture.


About You


  • Experience working in mining the industry
  • Project Management; experience leading planning and execution phases of technical water studies for project feasibility and approvals purposes.
  • Technical; demonstrated technical experience in mine water management.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Software; ArcGIS, MS Office & Project
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Geoscience or Environmental Engineering
