Job Description
About The Role
Act as trusted risk advisor to the NOJV (Non-Operated Joint Ventures) teams, supporting and giving guidance to the achievement of operational and functional objectives to protect and create value through risk expertise, insight, oversight and challenge.
Main Accountabilities
  • Identify local operational and functional emerging risks and changing regulatory requirements and alert the leadership team for inclusion in the local risk profile.
  • Trusted advisor providing risk tools, process, oversight and insights to inform decision-making and governance across NOJV lead teams and more broadly. Includes:
  • Applying a deep understanding of the risk framework, including risk appetite, architecture, governance, process and systems, to drive consistent and quality application.
  • Act as a member of the Risk, Audit and Compliance Committees to support the respectives Boards.
  • Advisor to risk and control owners, providing insight and oversight to support efficient and effective risk management and control design and verification;
  • Contribute to the creation, continual improvement, and support of the Company-wide risk management framework for all risks, including policies and procedures, tools, roles and responsibilities, and best practice methodologies.
  • Develop and deliver the vision and global risk plan across NOJV teams. In doing so, ensure that the plan reflects a deep understanding of customer and stakeholders needs including operational and/or functional objectives and priorities, the role of the team in managing BHP’s risk, as well as risk exposure and the proportionate support of Priority Group Risks, risk capability, risk culture and global risk priorities
  • For NOJV, performs an objective process to assess alignment of individual (Antamina, Samarco, Renova, Resolution) risk processes against “ISO31000 Risk Management” best practice. Advises BHP’s Board Members in the development of influencing plans to improve the Operators’ position on the risk management maturity curve.
  • Support line management to maintain an effective control environment (with consideration to both efficiency and effectiveness for control design, verification, and testing) and to implement the Risk Architecture (RAS, KRIs).
  • Work collaboratively across and lead through influence the RBP (Risk Business Partner) network to support globally consistent advice on NOJV risks, as well as connecting Asset and Functional personnel to share insight and expertise and address global opportunities.
  • Strategic advisor to Group Risk Representatives to support global control framework design including Our Requirements, Key Risk Indicators, aligned assurance program and best practice sharing;
About You
To be a top performer you will need:
  • 3+ Previus experience leading and managing teams.
  • Professionald eegree in Engineering / Technology / Finance or other relevant field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in risk management in an operational environment, with knowledge of professional standards (ISO31000, COSO, RIMS, or equivalent).
  • Full proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • SAP Risk Management experience preferred.
  • Availability to travel sporadically.
  • Extensive experience liaising with, and influencing, diverse stakeholder groups spanning operational and functional disciplines, diverse leadership teams from multiple geographies, commodities, jurisdictions, and senior executives.
