Inventory Control & Tax Specialist

Role Summary

An Inventory Control and Tax Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of inventory control and tax compliance within a company or organization. This role combines expertise in inventory management and accounting principles to ensure accurate recording of inventory data, adherence to tax regulations, and optimization of financial processes related to inventory and taxes.

Role Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

• Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and suggest appropriate action plans.
• Implement inventory control procedures to minimize discrepancies, shrinkage, and stockouts.
• Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile them with the recorded data in the system.
• Coordinate with various departments, such as procurement, and warehouse, to ensure proper inventory tracking and reconciliation.
• Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels for all products or materials.

Tax Compliance:

• Calculate and remit sales taxes, excise taxes, or other applicable taxes within specified deadlines.
• Respond to tax-related inquiries or audits from tax authorities, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal tax regulations that apply to the company's operations.
• Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
• Collaborate with the finance and accounting teams to incorporate tax-related transactions into financial reports.

Role Requirements

• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
• Knowledge of industry-specific inventory control practices (e.g., FIFO, LIFO) is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Proven experience in inventory management, tax accounting, or a similar role.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing regulations and business needs.
• Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and inventory management systems.
