Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is seeking a Communications and Knowledge Management Manager for the USAID BEBAS-TB 5-year activity having the aim of reducing TB incidence and mortality by supporting the Indonesian government to address the critical gaps and challenges of the TB program. This Activity will build on the work of previous USAID activities and current projects to achieve its goal. BEBAS-TB’s support will focus on improving access and utilization to quality and patient centered comprehensive TB services.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications & Knowledge Management Manager collaborates with project leadership, technical staff, USAID, MSH Home Office (HO) communications and other colleagues, and key stakeholders to develop and implement communications and dissemination strategies that promote visibility, convey project achievements to target audiences, and contribute to project success and organizational growth. The Communications & Knowledge Management Manager ensures state-of-the-art communications approaches and systems are integrated across multiple project initiatives, develops compelling content, and promotes a culture of quality across various project documents. He/she contributes to donor deliverables including Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Reports and Annual Work Plans, and collaborates with USAID and other USAID implementing partners on issues related to communication. The ideal candidate should have experience managing a communications team (personnel, budget and workflows).
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead Project Communications and Knowledge Management Strategies
- Conduct KM/communications-related trainings and capacity strengthening activities for staff and project partners.
- Define and implement audience-focused, results-driven communications and knowledge management strategies and plans for the BEBAS-TB project, in collaboration with project and country leadership.
Implement Project Communications Activities
- Write and produce creative and compelling content in Indonesian and English that conveys technical information in a clear and accessible manner to key audiences. Contribute to effective communications, knowledge management products and donor reporting.
- Manage the development of print and online publications, videos and photo essays, conference presentations and events, and social media and web updates in collaboration with technical staff, partners, program support colleagues, and external vendors as needed.
- Work closely with USAID and implementing partners to define and implement communication priorities and activities. Liaise with donor communications officers to align strategies and enhance visibility within donor audiences.
- Ensure that the program’s identity, brand, and strategic messaging are in accordance with donor requirements and organizational strategies, and that all communications comply with the relevant USAID branding and marking requirements and review and approval processes. Ensure robust implementation of project branding and marking, encouraging partners to adopt the project's identity.
Implement Project Knowledge Management
- Provide advice to project staff in integrating and implementing knowledge management into project-related activities, including developing Communities of Practice and facilitating the exchange of project-related knowledge.
- Support the development, review, and output of quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports as required by the donor
- Establish and implement standard operating procedures, mechanisms, and relationships for the collection and organization of information, knowledge, and experience from the project and its partners, as well as for its documentation and distribution through relevant channels.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear, compelling language without technical jargon.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public health, or other related discipline. Preferred: Master’s Degree in a relevant field of study
- Experience with public health communications and relevant technical areas is required.
- Fluency in Javanese or Sundanese will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience developing communications strategies, annual plans, and materials related to relevant project technical areas.
- Superior interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity to establish clear and concise communication with team members, senior management, and partner organizations across cultures to deliver results.
- Understanding USAID trends, audiences, and requirements and having experience in the implementation of USAID-funded projects is preferred.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible, related experience is required. Fluency in English and Indonesian is required.
- Experience in the production of print and digital communications content and dissemination strategies.
- Ability to interpret highly technical documents (grey literature, published academic papers), and translate them into public-facing documents/posts/blogs to disseminate knowledge uptake from the general public
