Position holder will be the Technical Expert / Advisor for Mechanical Processes and Major Projects for PJP Power Generation Facility Lowlands and Highlands.


Provide assistance and support to the Managers in the coordination of activities related to the safe, reliable and efficient operation & maintenance of coal fired and diesel generation facilities to support customer’s energy requirements enabling them to meet operational goals and to provide for the safety, health and wellbeing of all employees.


Provide support to ensure facilities operate in compliance with all GoI environmental approved regulations.


Proactively participate as a member of the Puncak Jaya Power management and leadership team by working closely with and efficiently integrating with the work processes and activities requirements of the customer, PT Freeport Indonesia.


To focus specific attention on the improvement of safety, operational efficiency and reliability and the delivery of excellent customer service.


Participate and Assist PJP Managers and Senior National Staff in key functions of capital and operations & maintenance projects;


  • Engineering, design and constructability reviews
  • Project operational integration and specifications
  • Financial, cost benefits and feasibility analysis


This position is to be filled by a Fluor Technical employee, and has been approved by the client PT Freeport Indonesia.


This position reports directly to PJP General Manager and is responsible to him for the completion and coordination of various activities including Asset Management Coordination as well as providing Technical support to the Coal and Diesel Power Plants.

Basic Job Requirements


  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Technical Experience - Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience related to technical aspects of thermal and diesel power generation O&M of which at least 5 years have been in senior department or facilities management level positions.
  • Responsible to the General Manager and client as an expert on matters relating to the coal fired generation facility, including strategy and development.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Employee technical and leadership development
  • Process Improvements - provide feedback to Manager on ways to improve Power Plant Maintenance Processes and Shut-Down Turn Around.
  • Development and coordination of the 10 Year Look Ahead Plan Programs or Work
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Assist Managers in the development of annual O&M Budgets.
  • Demonstrate commitment and alignment with PTFI company goals to ensure a close and trust based working relationship
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other internal and external groups to ensure effective use of available resources to meet corporate goals.
  • Develop technical knowledge and management expertise of the National employees to ensure strong depth in the organization to meet forthcoming succession planning requirements.
  • GoI and other mandated regulatory compliance in order to meet or exceed the contractual key result areas.
  • Provide Technical Support for the Coal and Diesel Plant Maintenance activities and during Major Plant Shut Downs and Overhauls –
  • Assist the Highlands and Lowlands Mangers to ensure that all PJP facilities are safe, reliable and are operating efficiently, ensuring continuity of power supply is available to meet the client’s; PTFI, production goals and needs of personnel Quality of Life.
  • Identification and correction of technical issues
  • Provide support and direction to the Project Managers in the completion of various PJP Projects.
  • Compliance with employee health and safety regulations
  • Technical Education - In addition, academic qualifications in a primary engineering and/or projects discipline or power plant O&M specific courses would be highly desirable. (Diploma in Mechanical Fitting)
  • Provide leadership and Technical support for national employees in all aspects related to O&M services of the PJP Power Generation Facilities –
  • Provide professional leadership / Support in the implementation of Risk and Hazard Identification and drive Management Workshops.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Advanced Education – Masters in Applied Project Management.
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and eleven (11) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to fifteen (15) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Development and continued update of the W2W Asset Management Processes
  • Possesses degree / diploma in electrical transmission and distribution maintenance with minimum 10 years related experience
  • Project Experience – Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience related to development, implementation and completion of major construction projects.
  • Assist the General Manager in the development of the Yearly Business Plan.
  • Provide support and assistance in the development of work activities associated with the PJP / Fluor Service Agreement


Other Job Requirements


  • Has a good knowledge on transmission and distribution design and application in power systems
  • Has a good knowledge on work planning, executing and control
  • Has a good knowledge and the ability to review electrical drawings and equipment manuals
  • Familiar in operating computer and MS-Office, Excel, and or other engineering software will is an advantage
  • Has good ability to work with and develop people’s knowledge and skills
  • Has a good knowledge and the ability to review electrical drawings and equipment manuals

  • Good in speaking and writing reports in English
  • Has a good knowledge on transmission and distribution design and application in power systems
  • The ability to communicate in Bahasa Indonesian language is an advantage
