Job Overview:
McDermott Indonesia is constructing two large HVDC 2GW offshore stress skin convertor platforms and substructures in Batam Indonesia for the Southern North Sea. The role is based in the McDermott Fabrication Yard on Batam Island.
McDermott has an immediate opening for a Construction Manager. The Construction manager is responsible for overall project construction execution of the HVDC topside and substructure of one of the platforms and substructures to completion. Responsible for execution of the construction plan at the job site including all construction activities and changes to the plan as required, to meet schedule and cost goals of the HVDC topside and substructure project. Responsible for safety, quality, client interface, construction operations, cost, schedule and productivity.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Manages budgets for own area and allocates resources accordingly.
• Creates, implements and ensures adherence to a world class HSEQ environment on site.
• Develop plans and coordinates resources to meet operational objectives related to the project.
• Works with partners and sub-contractors to complete the project within the given budget and timeframe
• Resolves contract disputes and arranges any necessary order changes
• Follows the direction of the Project Manager.
• Manages the performance of employees through goal setting, assessment, mentoring and coaching.
• Applies technical and/or managerial expertise to improve effectiveness and provides guidance to employees within sphere of influence.
• Responsible for maintaining the highest safety standards on the project.
• Scheduling of workers, delivery of equipment and materials, and progress of the topside and jacket project.
• Explains difficult concepts and empowers others in solution finding and execution.
• Interprets business issues and adapts work priorities.
• Anticipates and interprets customers’ needs to identify practical solutions.
• Plans, leads and directs the work of others.
• Oversees the daily construction activities at site
• Manages professional employees and/or supervisors, business support, technical and production staff.
• Leads the constructability program.
• Resolves operational, customer, employee or technical problems that impact the effectiveness of the project.
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in construction preferably in the ship building or ship conversion industry.
• High level of knowledge and experience with the development and implementation of construction detailed work planning processes and procedures for ship conversion or assembly.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in shipbuilding, repair or conversion works at Senior Supervisory level.
• Extensive prior experience in ship building yards and or fabrication yard construction activities
• Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or work equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of construction management experience or equivalencies.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

• Strong communication skills both verbal and written
• Fluent in English, Bahasa Indonesia language abilities an advantage.
• Advanced knowledge of McDermott construction planning procedures, progress systems, material management systems, document management and the timekeeping systems
• Previous experience in HVDC topsides with stressed skin design.
• Previous experience working within Indonesia is an advantage.
• Proven ability to pull different teams together to accomplish goals
