Our Consultancy & Advisory Services team provides our clients with outstanding technical expertise that enables the successful implementation of complex sustainability projects. Job summary:

The goal of the Associate consultant is to support the implementation of international, regional and local projects, the preparation of proposals, and the development of new products and services for the corporate sector as part of South Pole’s Climate Risks and Opportunities Practice. This includes a variety of tasks such as research information, data analysis, and writing deliverables and proposals to help corporate clients understand and quantify their climate risks and opportunities. You will contribute to project teams with medium-sized and large mandates, and will also manage small projects yourself with the support of senior team members.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

• Ensure assigned tasks/projects are delivered on time and within the available budget
• Manage project information and knowledge according to our project management best practices
• Support with or lead on the preparation and completion of proposals/deliverables for the corporate sector on climate change risks and opportunities, including both technical and administrative requirements, to the level of quality required by South Pole and the client, for our international, regional and local clients
• Topics of engagement may include: gap analysis against TCFD requirements; climate change scenario analysis (in line with the TCFD recommendations); identification and analysis of physical / transition climate change risks and opportunities; and development of business resilience strategies
• Develop proposals for the corporate sector on TCFD and climate-related risks and opportunities in close collaboration with the Key Account Management team and senior consulting professionals to support business development activities for the company
• Manage small projects, including interacting with the client and the project team
• Support business development activities through desktop research and developing materials to be shared with possible clients and partners
• Support with the development and improvement of specialised skills, tools and knowledge linked to the topics and services offered by South Pole

Requirements:

Essential -

• Good stakeholder and client management skills
• Ability to manage small projects in a multi-stakeholder and multi-geographies context
• University degree, ideally in Environmental Science/Engineering, Economics, Business, or other sustainability-related disciplines
• Good project management skills, from both a technical and administrative standpoint, and ability to coordinate project teams in a multi-stakeholder and multi-geographies context
• Relevant knowledge of climate science and policies, as well as environmental sustainability challenges in multinational companies
• Ability to conduct research tasks, analyse and summarise data
• Strong analytical skills and mindset
• Good understanding of environmental sustainability challenges and specific consultancy experience in the relevant areas of the practice
• Autonomous yet collaborative approach to work
• Good understanding of core elements of GHG accounting / carbon footprinting and corporate emission footprints
• Relevant work experience in sustainability consulting or a related field, including experience for corporate clients in one or more of the following areas: TCFD alignment; climate scenario analysis; GHG accounting in line with best practice methodologies; target-setting (SBTs); environmental policy analysis; sustainability reporting (CDP, TCFD, EU Taxonomy, CSRD etc)
• Excellent writing skills in English and Indonesian with proven expertise in creating high-quality written documents (proposals and deliverables)

Desirable -

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced international environment
• Master’s degree or wider training in a sustainability or business/economics/finance related discipline
• Good working knowledge of all Google Suite applications and MS Word and Excel
• Diligent, reliable and proactive
• Good prioritisation and time management skills
• Knowledge of the energy sector and current / future developments will be an advantage
• Strong quantitative skills (data analysis/visualisation and advanced Excel a bonus)
• Practical experience in GHG accounting, risk management, modelling (financial, environmental, etc), sustainability/climate change strategy development, energy efficiency/ GHG management, target setting (SBTs / NZ), and/or disclosure (e.g. CDP, TCFD)
