Greenpeace International is looking for a Senior Campaign Strategist to contribute to our Alternative Futures portfolio. You will be part of an area of work that Greenpeace sees as essential to not only tackling the climate and biodiversity crises but to replacing the unjust social and economic systems that drive them.
The Alternative Futures portfolio tackles the root causes of the climate and biodiversity crisis by challenging the broken social and economic systems, driven by profit and extraction and its elite, by reimagining and co-creating with allies, alternative visions for the future we stand for and want to create and elevating the systemic solutions that already exist.
Reporting to the Global Campaign Leader, you will actively contribute to advancing the overall Alternative Futures theory of change and strategy and work with an International team and key National Regional Organisations (NROs), to help develop and expand an ambitious and robust Alternative Futures portfolio. A portfolio that aims to hold global and national/ regional campaigns that challenge the status quo with alternatives, contribute to becoming a responsive player, elevate and universalise the voices of the global majority, connect the dots with the climate, biodiversity and systemic crisis and spark system change by shifting power and mindsets.
In this role you will:
- Facilitate expertise transfer, developing training and identifying skill share opportunities.
- Contribute to the development and realization of the Alternative Futures overall strategy.
- Identify strategic opportunities and provide guidance and encouragement to National and Regional offices (NROs) in order to seize them.
- Lead and develop high level expertise related to one or more of the strategic drivers of the campaign - Beyond GDP, Wellbeing Economy, People and planet before profit and provide expertise to National and Regional Offices (NROs) campaign development
- Support evaluations and ensure that lessons learned are communicated and acted on.
- Initiate, lead and manage relationships with influential thought leaders.
- Encourage collaboration among NROs and seek synergies between other campaigns portfolios
- Support and advise NROs through all phases of the campaign/project lifecycle including monitoring delivery of the campaign and engagement strategies, encouraging and sharing innovative approaches and troubleshooting as needed.
- Keep up to date with best practices within your area of expertise, fostering innovation and new ways of working.

What we’re looking for:
Remember no one has every skill or experience needed for this role and you’ll have the opportunity to learn a lot from the team. We believe someone who has a few of these is well suited to exceed in this role:
- Knowledge of alternative socio-economic models (Beyond GDP, Wellbeing Economy, UBI, Commons, relocalisation, slow circular economy, pluralism, energy & food sovereignty, civic participation, etc.) and how they intersect with climate crisis and biodiversity loss.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and at least one other language
- Strong presentation, facilitation, problem-solving, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Ideally, a good connection to multiple environmental and social movements and networks in the Global South, with an understanding of the use of data and social media insights to inform campaigning and advocacy strategies, plus experience in building communities of practice/stakeholder partnerships.
- Demonstrable support for and belief in the Greenpeace network core aims and values.
- Significant experience in developing, implementing and evaluating ambitious campaigns connected to Economic and Social justice, preferably in the Global South context

You will help develop and consolidate a solid network of allies that connect us with relevant movements and define the type of collaboration, including public output and strategic direction, to develop co-designed joint visions and alternative futures, supporting our National and Regional office teams in developing and delivering high quality, strategic and impactful campaigns.
