Fantastic opportunity to support the delivery of water and wastewater projects in across South East Asia and beyond

Mott MacDonald is looking for a talented and experienced Principal Process Engineer to join our growing Water team to provide engineering expertise for a wide range of water and wastewater related projects across South East Asia and beyond. The role will be based in Singapore or Jakarta, with occasional short term travel within the region.

You will have a solid mechanical/chemical engineering background with a track record of working independently and in leading teams to deliver treatment projects. In addition to your technical competences, you will be articulate, flexible, and adaptable to the variety of challenges the treatment sector faces.

You will be involved in continuing to grow our business with both existing clients and supporting the development of new clients. You will, therefore, be confident in presenting and engaging with clients on both technical and commercial aspects to understand their needs. In addition, you will be strong in the preparation of proposals and tenders having an understanding of the associated commercial contracts.

You will be engaged with interesting and challenging projects that apply our connected thinking to deliver appropriate, sustainable solutions that use and utilise the latest digital tools. In addition, you will help to develop our team and support our water sector business development strategy.

About This Role

• Design lead and Project Management of water based projects.
• Progress reporting, negotiation of variations and contract changes.
• Technical mentorship to water engineers, and to engage and contribute to knowledge sharing across the region and our global water practice.
• Support to business development activities through the provision of technical advice, inputs, and designs.
• Client & third party engagement – able to professionally present technically at a high level and also at a detailed solutions level.
• Deliver feasibility, concept and / or detailed designs of water, wastewater or sludge treatment projects. This will include production of technical design documents, outline drawings, and specifications.
• Design delivery will be in compliance with client expectations, Mott MacDonald's objectives, appropriate best practice, and good practical implementation.

Candidate Specification

About You

• Experience as technical/design/project lead with multi-discipline design teams on moderate to complex treatment projects.
• Experience of using digital design tools (such as Autodesk C3D / Revit /Bentley Microstation), collaboration environments (BIM 360 / Navisworks) or willingness to learn.
• 7+ years of water/wastewater treatment systems design experience.
• Good understanding of the water/wastewater treatment process from a systems engineering perspective, including the necessary interaction between civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation requirements of a treatment system.
• Broad and detailed knowledge of the engineering requirements for the delivery of water and wastewater technologies relevant to the region, including Indonesia and Singapore.
• The ability to work independently on projects ensuring delivery to scope, time, budget and quality requirement. Proven track record in delivering outputs to tight timeframes and within fixed budgets.
• Chartered Professional Engineer, preferred.
• Proven ability to independently write reports/proposals/specifications in formal English.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or higher (Mechanical or Process).
• Demonstrated experience interacting with Clients and Contractors, presenting proposals and resolving technical issues. Strong desire to assist in developing our water / wastewater business in the region.
