Introduction

IBM seeks a dynamic and experienced External Relations professional to join the ASEANZK Communications team. Keen understanding of Indonesia’s market development, excellent relationship with the country’s top-tier media; astute knowledge of social media and the ability to positively engage influencers are prerequisites for the role. With strong leadership skills, the successful candidate will build a powerful brand presence for IBM in Indonesia.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Build mindshare for the IBM brand and capabilities by leveraging relationships with key media and various external stakeholders in Indonesia.
• Develop and lead execution of communications plans at a Country/Business Unit aligned to business strategies.
• Support teamwork and collaboration for Communications campaigns planning and execution.
• Conceptualize and execute IBM’s external communication strategies to drive greater visibility for the IBM brand, build thought leadership for specific business areas creatively and increase IBM’s share of voice.
• Develop aligned and consistent messages by applying communications techniques with strong storytelling.
• Make sound judgement in managing crisis working with internal and external stakeholders to minimise impact on the IBM brand.

Knowledge And Skills Requirement

This role requires a deep understanding of the External Communications discipline:

• Analyze metrics and make data-driven recommendations
• Able to identify key industry/client issues and execute tactics that build favourable mindshare.
• Extensive and deep relationships with top-tier media in Indonesia and potentially in Asia
• Operate with a growth mindset
• Lead project team to apply agile ways of work and execute an appropriate engagement
• Highly skilled in developing strong narratives that align with Indonesia’s National Agenda
• Extensive experience in strategizing and executing plans that engage traditional and social media to build strong brand preference
• Competent in acting as a strategic advisor to Senior Management and Global Spokespersons.
• Support teamwork and collaboration for C&C campaigns planning and execution

Specific skills include:

• Excellent and experienced writer and content creator
• Curious researcher
• Organized project planner
• Strategic and critical thinker
• Innovator who thrives in fast-paced/ambiguous environments
• At least 7 years of experience in external relations (including 1-2 years experience in social media strategy)
• Teamwork advisor
• Effective collaborator

Education qualifications:

• Expert in spoken and written standard English
• Preferred Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree/MBA (candidates with proven experience will be considered)
• Relevant certifications in Public Relations and Communications field
