Job Overview:

McDermott Indonesia is constructing two large HVDC 2GW offshore stress skin convertor platforms and substructures in Batam Indonesia for the Southern North Sea. The role is based in the McDermott Fabrication Yard on Batam Island.

McDermott has an immediate opening for a Construction Manager. The Construction manager is responsible for overall project construction execution of the HVDC topside and substructure of one of the platforms and substructures to completion. Responsible for execution of the construction plan at the job site including all construction activities and changes to the plan as required, to meet schedule and cost goals of the HVDC topside and substructure project. Responsible for safety, quality, client interface, construction operations, cost, schedule and productivity.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

· Creates, implements and ensures adherence to a world class HSEQ environment on site.

· Oversees the daily construction activities at site

· Scheduling of workers, delivery of equipment and materials, and progress of the topside and jacket project.

· Works with partners and sub-contractors to complete the project within the given budget and timeframe

· Responsible for maintaining the highest safety standards on the project.

· Resolves contract disputes and arranges any necessary order changes

· Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

· Plans, leads and directs the work of others.

· Manages professional employees and/or supervisors, business support, technical and production staff.

· Follows the direction of the Project Manager.

· Applies technical and/or managerial expertise to improve effectiveness and provides guidance to employees within sphere of influence.

· Anticipates and interprets customers’ needs to identify practical solutions.

· Interprets business issues and adapts work priorities.

· Leads the constructability program.

· Manages budgets for own area and allocates resources accordingly.

· Resolves operational, customer, employee or technical problems that impact the effectiveness of the project.

· Develop plans and coordinates resources to meet operational objectives related to the project.

· Explains difficult concepts and empowers others in solution finding and execution.

· Manages the performance of employees through goal setting, assessment, mentoring and coaching.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

· Minimum of 15 years’ experience in construction preferably in the ship building or ship conversion industry.

· Minimum of 5 years of construction management experience or equivalencies.

· Minimum of 10 years’ experience in shipbuilding, repair or conversion works at Senior Supervisory level.

· Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or work equivalent.

· Extensive prior experience in ship building yards and or fabrication yard construction activities

· High level of knowledge and experience with the development and implementation of construction detailed work planning processes and procedures for ship conversion or assembly.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

· Advanced knowledge of McDermott construction planning procedures, progress systems, material management systems, document management and the timekeeping systems

· Strong communication skills both verbal and written

· Proven ability to pull different teams together to accomplish goals

· Fluent in English, Bahasa Indonesia language abilities an advantage.

· Previous experience working within Indonesia is an advantage.
