Helo, Currently, my clients from the freight forwarding industry are hiring for a business development position to expand their company.


Job Summary:

A Business Development professional in the freight forwarding industry is responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, developing and implementing sales strategies, and building strong relationships with clients to achieve revenue and growth targets. This role plays a critical part in expanding the company's customer base, enhancing market presence, and promoting its freight forwarding services.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identify potential clients and market segments through research, networking, cold calling, attending trade shows, and leveraging existing industry contacts.
  2. Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients. Understand their logistics needs, challenges, and requirements to provide tailored freight forwarding solutions.
  3. Sales Strategy Development: Create and execute effective sales strategies to maximize revenue growth, market penetration, and customer acquisition.
  4. Proposal and Quotation Management: Prepare competitive and customized freight forwarding proposals and quotations for clients, considering their specific needs and requirements.
  5. Negotiation and Contracting: Engage in negotiations with clients to secure new business contracts and favorable terms, while ensuring mutual satisfaction and compliance with company policies.
  6. Market Analysis: Stay updated with industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities. Use this knowledge to identify potential business opportunities and improve the company's competitive positioning.
  7. Collaboration with Operations Team: Work closely with the operations team to ensure smooth execution of services and timely delivery, meeting or exceeding clients' expectations.
  8. Reporting and Sales Forecasting: Provide regular reports and sales forecasts to management, highlighting progress towards goals, challenges, and areas for improvement.

Job Requirements:

  1. Education: A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is typically preferred.
  2. Industry Experience: Proven experience in business development and sales within the freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation industry is highly desirable. Knowledge of international freight forwarding practices and regulations is an advantage in 1 year at least.
  3. Sales Skills: Strong sales and negotiation skills are essential to effectively communicate value propositions and close deals.
  4. Customer-Centric Approach: Ability to understand and address customers' needs, provide solutions, and build long-term relationships.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to make effective presentations to potential clients.
  6. Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the freight forwarding market, including key players, customer segments, and emerging trends.
  7. Networking Abilities: Proficiency in networking and relationship building to expand the company's client base and industry contacts.
  8. Results-Oriented: A proactive and results-driven approach to achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  9. Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic industry, adapting to changes and challenges.
  10. Language Skills: Proficiency in English is usually required, and knowledge of other languages can be advantageous, especially for international operations.
