Job Description
Yayasan Pendidikan Jayawijaya [YPJ] is a school set over two campuses: Kuala Kencana and Tembagapura in Papua, Indonesia. The school provides an inclusive education for PT Freeport Indonesia [PTFI] employees. The student population has a diverse range of needs from various parts of the Indonesian archipelago.


PURPOSE


The Physical Education teacher is to promote the vision and purpose of the school through inclusive, contemporary practices to ensure optimal progress toward high levels of learning for all students. This involves a focus on encouraging students to think critically, solve problems and make informed decisions related to health, safety, well-being and physical activity across their lifespan.


Key Duties And Responsibilities


RESILIENT, CONFIDENT, HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS


  • Empower students to respect people with all types of abilities and build empathy
  • Give students a framework in which to discuss human development, health and relationships
  • Impart the skills and knowledge to enjoy a healthy lifestyle, understand lifestyle factors-health determinants, and their influence on health and well-being, including the consequences of choices and behaviors
  • Empower students to be self-managers and regulators by developing skills of resilience, patience and self-understanding
  • Support ongoing student reflection, particularly as it relates to the schools Approaches to Learning [IB]
  • Help students understand healthy eating and its interaction with ongoing, sustained physical exercise
  • Help students understand stress and how to mitigate its effects through exercise and mindfulness


MOVEMENT, FITNESS AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY


  • Promote personal fitness and means to monitor and measure key fitness indicators
  • Teach children the rudiments of physical literacy so they can understand game play and healthy development of their bodies
  • Empower students to be team players and tacticians in games and sports
  • Empower students to play individually or in team groupings
  • Help students explore endurance activities
  • Assist students explore and discover advanced movement and muscle memory
  • Help students explore a range of physical pursuits including gymnastics, other movement activities, indoor and outdoor pursuits.
  • Teach children to be active every day and sustain lifelong physical activity and participation in sports.


LEADERSHIP AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT


  • Develop students understanding of self, including awareness of their own strengths and capacities
  • Use the Second Step Program Social-Emotional Program to develop social skills
  • Facilitate students' leadership skills through a range of activities and challenge-based activities.
  • Facilitate appropriate group dynamics, teamwork and collaborative problem solving
  • Engage students in the development of communication and problem-solving skills
  • Help students discover elements of their personal identity through a range of structured activities and reflective dialogue


COMMUNITY AND PARTNERSHIPS


  • Liaise with the expatriate school to promote competitive sports leagues and competitions
  • Support the extra-curricular [ECA] and service-learning program
  • Lead, attend and further develop the Extended Study in areas of program, safety and risk mitigation.


COLLABORATION AND INNOVATION


  • Participate in constructive, reflective, professional conversations to grow professional expertise and improve learning for students.
  • Model the IB Learner Profiles and YPJ Core Values
  • Actively seek professional learning to grow expertise and seek inspiration
  • Use the YPJ Professional Standards to set professional goals for self-improvement and reflection.
  • Communicate openly and constructively with all constituents of the school and community
  • Collaborate to craft innovative and engaging learning through design processes
  • View personal success and effectiveness in light of student progress and growth.
  • Seek innovative ideas to promote the realization of the school vision


QUALIFICATION


  • A Bachelor or Master Degree in Education
  • A Technology Advocate

  • Effective Communicator
  • Contemporary Educator
  • Have Cultural sensitivity
  • Willing to be placed in a remote area
  • Willing to adapt with the school's leave system which must refer to the school academic calendar
  • Specialization[s] in physical education, outdoor education, counseling and personal development
