Job Description

TechNode Global is looking for tech reporters based in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, as well as other countries in Southeast Asia, who can cover news in the startup and innovation scene in their respective countries. This is a remote position, although you will be expected to be available to travel within your country or across the region for events and for coverage.

TechNode Global is a spin-off of TechNode, China’s leading innovation and entrepreneurship platform.

With vast industry experiences and rich resources in the innovation and technology space, TechNode Global serves as the bridge between China and the fast-growing SEA markets through our market resources, access, events, and media services.

TechNode Global centers itself within the regional local communities, offering key market insights and high-value connections to facilitate more interaction and cross-pollination between the region.

Responsibilities

  • Responsive during work hours and maintain constant communication with editor(s).
  • Communicating with the editorial team about stories, sources, and deadlines;
  • Think critically and write/edit timely and accurately;
  • Contributing to editorial discussions and direction;
  • Build up personal and professional contacts across the industry to arrange for exclusive interviews and scoops;
  • The Technology Reporter will be an integral part of the TechNode Global expansion strategy. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating original content which is engaging, descriptive, and prescriptive. We are a growing team so you’ll likely get involved in a little bit of everything, but here are some of the main things you’ll be doing: Sourcing, pitching, and writing stories about APAC’s technology and startup ecosystems;
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in the industry;

Qualifications

  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in the delivery of content;
  • Have existing professional and personal local & regional contacts to leverage in order to deliver content that is credible based on accurate sentiments on the ground;
  • You are persistent and don’t get discouraged by slowing momentum or setbacks. You realize that every story has a life of its own. Just because it takes a while to get the perfect quote or find the right angle, you understand that good stories take time.
  • Based in SEA (ideally in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietman) and have a degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, or in related field;
  • Have at least 2 years experience in journalism (English);
  • Skilled at communicating across cultures. Knowledge of one or more Southeast Asian local languages is a bonus;
  • Demonstrate strong interest and curiosity in the tech industry;
