The Market Insights Team helps shape strategic and operational decisions in the company by providing compelling insights into industry developments, market movements and competitive dynamics in the various businesses that Grab operates - namely transport, food, payments, and platform services. Get to know the Role


The Market Analyst (Data) is someone who is:


  • Intellectually curious - voracious in the consumption of available information, relentless in searching for new sources, exploring new ways of using technology to improve efficiency, and constantly striving to derive additional insights.
  • Passionate about solving complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Critical in thinking and with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Strong in communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Comfortable with failing and possess the drive to keep trying.
  • Energetic and thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced working environment.


The Day-to-Day Activities


  • Support the team in data operations.
  • Augment the team’s routine analytical capacity in uncovering strategic and operational insights on various business verticals, regional markets, competitors, and any aspect of the external environment via our unique data sets.
  • Support the team’s organic data infrastructure requirements.
  • Support ad-hoc projects to deep-dive unique data sets and generate insights for strategic initiatives.


The Must-Haves


  • Strong skills in designing, building, and scaling ETL pipelines using tools like Airflow/Databricks/Python scripts.
  • Strong data query/wrangling skills using SQL and Python/R, and data visualisation using tools like Tableau and PowerBI.
  • Strong skills in designing and operationalising data collection and validation processes.
  • Strong skills in designing data management processes.
