Lighthouse Academy is a newly established micro-school in Ubud, Bali. We are looking for a highly-skilled educator to join our tight-knit team. We are looking for one more Core Teacher, who can lead English, Math, and Science classes for Grades 5 or 6 (Cambridge 6-7), using the Cambridge curriculum as a guide. We have an international student body and the language of instruction is English.

This is not a traditional teacher-led classroom. Ideally, candidates will have IB or Montessori training, and will enjoy creating interdisciplinary units with an inquiry-based learning approach. Small classes of 8-10 students will give teachers the ability to oversee the personal development goals of each child and offer unique extended learning opportunities that both challenge and inspire.

Curriculum: Cambridge

Experience Level: Minimum 5 years as a lead teacher in international schools

Language Requirement: Fluent in English

Preferred Experience: Cambridge or IB curriculum, project-based learning

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and promote a holistic educational experience.
• Lead core classes (English, Math, and Science) daily, using the Cambridge curriculum as a guide.
• Set personalized learning goals for students which encourages self-reflection, while providing constructive feedback to support their learning journey.
• Develop and implement project-based learning activities (including field trips, guest speakers, and community engagement) to enhance student learning.
• Create a student-centered learning environment that fosters critical thinking and creativity.
• Provide a positive role model for students, demonstrating patience, resilience, and open-mindedness.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in secondary education, ideally in an international school setting.
• Ability to relocate to Ubud, Bali by 1 August.
• Passion for education and a commitment to student success.
• A team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience teaching the Cambridge and/or IB curriculum.
• Experience in curriculum design and innovative pedagogical approaches to learning.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
