Job Description
An exciting Import/Export Manager (Retail) job has just become available at one of the most well-known retail companies based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a role for a Import/Export Manager who is a leader in their field.


About The Import/Export Manager (Retail) Role


This is a great opportunity for the Import/Export Manager (Retail) to redevelop group systems and processes. Your main responsibility will be to manage and supervise upstream logistics activities and corresponding with principal or supplier at origin, forwarder and other bureaus, related to shipment including custom clearance process, compliance to related regulations and post-custom audit process.


Key Responsibilities


  • Control daily/weekly delivery to DC to utilise capacity effectively and cost efficiency to avoid any extra work at DC
  • Ensure and monitor cost effectiveness in order to meet landed cost age target in order to support brands to define competitive margin targets
  • Collaborate with team leader, perform audit on processes and maintain expert knowledge on custom regulations
  • Administer and implement all custom and border protection for various security programs and maintain compliance to all customer procedures
  • Apply Free Trade Agreement concessional rate duty benefit and maintain a high standard of document compliance
  • Perform research for various departments, import laws, procedures and maintain knowledge on all tariffs, licenses and collaborate with planning team to maintain inventory of products
  • Provide all insurance on shipments, design and execute all corrective action plans for processes
  • Monitor and inform, update compliance document and attending custom requirements to comply with regulations including maintaining good repo for company with government agencies
  • Design, evaluate, renew contracts with mark to market, monitor and prepare reports for all import activities, recommend changes if required
  • Plan and implement import transportation strategies according to supplier. Administer movement of all goods and ensure compliance to government regulations
  • Partner with suppliers and inventory planners, ensure accurate movement of international shipments and ensure arrival of goods within the required timeframe
  • Develop team and career path. Recognise and reward good work
  • Design SOPs for import department, compliance to all ISO guidelines and prepare reports to be submitted with government agencies
  • Maintain partner governance, relationship, period reviews – such as KSO, SGS and custom service agents, etc.


To succeed in this Import/Export Manager (Retail) role, you must have the ability to lead effectively and possess a keen understanding of customs, import/export activities.

  • Proven track record in leadership
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably an economics major (or any related field)
  • Knowledgeable in import-export regulations
  • 10 or more years of experience in import and logistics
