Who are we looking for?


We are seeking Lead/Staff Scientist Application Technology SPADC Technology Centers Geleen (NL) and Shanghai (CN) – Global Application Technology – Application Development & Industrial Solutions – Polymers T&I.


Qualifications


  • Ph.D./MSc in related discipline or 7-10 years relevant experience in related field with B.S. degree.
  • Good understanding of CAE, Predictive Engineering, 3D printing is a plus.
  • Understand the state of the art in advanced conversion processes; some hands-on experience in plastics processing (e.g., Extrusion or Molding processes, tooling etc.) is a plus.
  • Broad understanding and experience of markets and applications where our products/polymers are used.
  • Timelines and budget.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in application development or other relevant disciplines.
  • Experience in customer and external interactions / presentations.
  • Excellent communication skills; excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Scientific coaching of young researchers/engineers.
  • Able to drive, lead and guide technology development programs, based on a clear understanding of market trends and business strategy, whilst ensuring:
  • Strong analytical skills, pragmatic, able to work in global cross-functional teams.


Duties and responsibilities


The global applications Lead/Staff Scientist leads the development of new applications focusing on AD&IS segments/markets. Bringing technical competence in application technology to support the product lines where necessary on a global level.


  • Lead the implementation of new applications with stakeholders.
  • Lead and drive highly motivated, impactful, innovative research programs on application development in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders (MD&IS, BU, Technology groups, stakeholders, customers, and external parties) to support segment growth to achieve the organization 2025 vision.
  • Work together to ensure an excellent internal network with business, MDTS, product lines and project leaders in the organization to analyze and understand market needs across all segments.
  • Identify application, resin opportunities, and lead key programs that enable differentiated growth.
  • Leverage intellectual property to maximize business growth in the domain.
  • Build and maintain an extensive external network along the value chain, including government bodies, brand owners, converters, machine manufacturers and top research institutes.
  • Responsible to translate customer requirements, specifications and expectations into clear application engineering and processing plans and Design of Experiments.
  • Proactively communicate with project team members and business stakeholders on progress. Report results and present them to stakeholders and customers.

  • Interviews stage


2.1 LHR Americas preliminary phone/video interview: A member of the Talent Acquisition team from LHR Americas will first schedule a call with you to discuss the details of the position, your interests, and qualifications. Furthermore, your English level will be evaluated at this stage, ONLY native or advanced speakers will approve this evaluation.


If this preliminary phone/video interview is successful, your resume will be submitted to our client.


If your preliminary phone/video interview is not successful, our Talent Acquisition consultant will inform you.


2.2 Client phone/video interview: This interview will happen only if your resume is approved by our client, we cannot guarantee the time our client will take to approve your resume, but it should take less than a week.


If your resume is approved a member of the Talent Acquisition Team from our client will schedule a call with you to evaluate your qualifications.


The client interview contains technical questions that help assess your familiarity with problem-solving in your given field and may include a behavioral evaluation. Be prepared to explain how you approach problems and produce solutions.


If your phone interview is successful, the hiring team will further evaluate your resume, and they will invite you to a video interview when hiring managers are available.


If your resume is not approved, LHR Americas will inform you.


2.3 Video interviews with hiring managers: which may also contain technical questions that help us assess your familiarity with problem-solving in your given field.


  • Conditional Offer


A successful interview may result in a conditional offer of employment.


Conditions for employment include but are not limited to medical examinations, and permission to secure a visa to work and reside in-country.
