Worley is in bid phase for a mining project based in Indonesia. Worley has supported the project’s feasibility study and has now been engaged to undertake civil detailed design for earthworks and roads. Worley is in discussions for additional packages of work and is looking for expressions of interest for a Contract Manager for a commitment of 2+ years with the opportunity to extend.

As our Environmental Lead you will take responsibility for ensuring best practice environmental management at Worley through the development, management, implementation and / or maintenance of designated policies, procedures, programs, systems, reporting, and training.

You will also be accountable for providing specialist advice, management, assistance, education, and training to enable management to achieve accountability for environmental management.

Your Additional Responsibilities Will Include

• Develop a project environmental audit schedule and facilitate, lead and participate in environmental audits, compile reports and ensure corrective actions are complete on time in full.
• Direct supervision of the waste management program.
• Ensure that all relevant licenses / permit / approvals etc. are in place prior to relevant works commencing.
• Ensure that the contractor management, staff, sub consultants are familiar with the project environmental policy and are aware of their responsibilities and consequences of their actions.
• To provide specialist advice, assistance, education and training to enable management to achieve accountability for environmental management.
• Develop and deliver environmental induction / awareness training.
• Evaluate project contracts and tenders to ensure they contain relevant and adequate environmental provisions.
• Responsible for the implementation of the monitoring programs onsite (e.g. vegetation clearance and top soil management, land disturbance tracking, waste management etc.).
• The development, implementation, maintenance and management of the project specific environmental outputs, including the environmental management system (EMS), legal and other requirements and obligations / commitments register/s, closure documentation, environmental handover in consultation with site project team etc.
• Develop a monitoring program and schedule, project specific monitoring procedures and checklists, and a monitoring and calibration register.
• Ensure that project environmental requirements (e.g. the project EMS) are relevant and current
• Other activities as directed by the HSE Superintendent / HSE Senior Advisor / HSE Manager.
• Integrate environmental, legal and other requirements and project obligations into the EMS for the project.

About You

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess a combination of work experience, skills and or qualifications in the following areas:

• Proven leadership skills
• Able to develop close working relationships with customers and stakeholders
• Thorough understanding of current Environmental legislation and a proven ability to pragmatically apply this knowledge in an engineering/project management environment
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Environmental Lead role
• Prior experience in a construction, mining or resources environment
• Highly competent in MS Office suite
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Environmental roles within the resources, construction and infrastructure sectors
• Able to develop and deliver Environmental Induction / Awareness training, develop high quality Environmental Management Plans, facilitate Environmental audits, lead Environmental audits, undertake Environmental monitoring programs
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
