Environment, Health And Safety Manager

Job Overview

Responsible for leading and implementing the health, safety, and environmental management program for a Power Plant Expansion & LNG construction project. The role requires a strong understanding of safety management systems, environmental regulations, and risk management processes. The HSE Manager will work closely with the project team to ensure that HSE policies and procedures are developed and implemented, and that all employees and contractors comply with the safety and environmental requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
• Develop, implement and manage the project's HSE policies and procedures in accordance with the company's safety management system and relevant regulations.
• Develop and implement safety and environmental training programs for employees and contractors, ensuring all training is delivered and records are maintained.
• Conduct HSE audits and inspections, identifying areas for improvement and developing and implementing action plans.
• Prepare and submit HSE reports to the project management team and company management team as required.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, local authorities, and other stakeholders as required.
• Promote a positive safety culture, encouraging employees and contractors to take ownership of their own safety and the safety of others
• Monitor and investigate incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures to prevent accidents and incidents.

Job Requirements

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE management in construction projects, preferably in the mining or power plant.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is an asset
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science or related field.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
