Job Description
Apply hydrological knowledge, engineering principles, and project management skills to assess, design, and implement water management solutions. Their work aims to optimize water resources, mitigate environmental impact, and meet the water-related needs of the project while ensuring compliance with regulations and engaging stakeholders effectively.


The key duties and responsibilities of this position are:


1. Perform safety tasks such as fatal risk management, safety inspection, safety talk, and so on.


2. Develop and implement water management plans, including water supply, stormwater management, and drainage systems, around mining areas, including the mine townsite.


3. Involved in designing and overseeing the construction of civil infrastructure projects related to water management, such as water supply, and drainage systems.


4. Identify potential environmental risks and work to mitigate them through the design and implementation of appropriate water management strategies. This helps ensure the protection and preservation of water resources and environmental.


5. Knowledge of civil engineering principles, including infrastructure design, and construction management.


6. Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis to optimize the design and performance of water management systems.


7. Evaluate and implement water conservation and efficiency measures to optimize water use within the mine townsite.


8. Provide technical support and guidance to address water-related issues and communicate plans and initiatives to stakeholders, including residents, community members, and local authorities.


9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess water-related challenges and develop effective engineering solutions.


10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with stakeholders regarding water management.


11. Conduct health checks on all hydrology monitoring equipment to ensure that they are calibrated and ready for use at all times.


12. Improve the business process for data collection and information distribution.


13. Hold sharing sessions related with hydrology as part of personal and team development


14. Develop a network and communication strategy with stakeholders/clients to achieve department goals (risks mitigation).


15. Perform Pratama development through training, courses, and on-the-job training to increase Pratama competency.


16. Monitor and review subordinate performance and assist them during their activities to minimize possibilities of rework and ensure compliance with time and quality standards required by the client and the company.


The key challenges in this position include:


  • Effectively communicating complex hydrological concepts to stakeholders, including clients, colleagues, and government agents.
  • Adhering to environmental regulations, water management guidelines, and safety standards adds complexity to the job.
  • Working in diverse geographical locations with varying terrain, climate, and hydrological characteristics. Each site may have unique hydrological conditions that require understanding and adaptation.
  • Dealing with issues due to high rainfall intensity.


The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are:


Minimum Education And Experience


  • Preferably has a master's degree (S2) related with hydrology, hydrogeology, water resources engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in in civil engineering, water resources engineering, hydrology, geology, mine engineering or a related field with at least 2 years' experience in hydrology and/or hydrogeology field.
  • Preferably has an experience in hydrology and hydrogeology field, especially at mining industry.
  • Experience with hydrological modeling, data analysis, and fieldwork.
  • Experience with field data collection techniques, water sampling, and monitoring instruments installation.


Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Characters)


  • Database literacy such as SQL, PowerBI is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and guidelines pertaining to water management in the mining industry, and standards pertaining to water management and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, including infrastructure design, and geotechnical engineering.
  • Computer literacy such as VULCAN, MINESIGHT, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced mining environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, well adapted and team oriented.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in using engineering design software, hydrological modeling software, and GIS tools.
  • Project Management.
  • Strong understanding of hydrological principles, water supply systems, stormwater management, and drainage systems.
  • Fluent English both verbal and written.
