Job Description

PURPOSE:

We are looking for a talented individual to join our Chemical Management team in the position of Chemical Management Division Mgr. This position is responsible for the leading the development and implementation of Sustainable Chemistry Program which supports strategic and operational efforts across VS&Co’s global manufacturing supply chain.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the implementation of Sustainable Chemistry program across VS&Co global supply chain
  • Travel throughout the region regularly (3-4 times per year)
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops targeted at supply chain partners and internal cross-functional teams as required
  • Prioritize & effectively phase the implementation of the program initiatives and projects
  • Manage the regional Chemical Management team and ensure resources are in place to support the Sustainable Chemistry Program
  • Ensure alignment between the management of chemical inputs/manufacturing process/outputs and global product compliance requirements as well as identify gaps in order to mitigate regulatory risks
  • Lead the engagement with factories and suppliers to overcome challenges that limit the measurement of progress towards goals and provide timely feedback to cross-functional leaders
  • Monitor supply chain partner factories chemical management compliance and performance as key factors influencing VS&Co sourcing strategy
  • Lead the research, scouting and assessment of alternative, sustainable chemistries to be implemented across VS&Co’s supply chain
  • Support the implementation of processes, systems and tools needed to measure, track and report progress towards the Sustainable Chemistry program goals
  • Lead issue resolution processes for non-compliance cases at supply chain partners
  • Explore opportunities for collaboration with suppliers to provide case studies on chemical management success stories and best practices
  • Actively participate and act as a liaison in relevant industry groups (e.g. ZDHC, AFIRM, etc.) as well as participate in industry conferences/shows to build industry knowledge, develop relationships and support collaboration around the development of solutions and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have great communication and networking skills.
  • Be structured and organized with a customer-focused mindset
  • Have an excellent command of English – written and verbal. Basic understanding of Chinese or Vietnamese is an advantage but not required
  • BSc degree in chemistry, textile chemistry, chemical engineering
  • Able to turn complex information into simpler guidelines for different audiences and cross-functional teams
  • Be a self-driven team player with a high degree of integrity and self-leadership. Seeks opportunities for improvement / change
  • Have more than 10 years of professional experience in chemical management for the textile supply chain or in-depth technical understanding of relevant chemicals and materials (e.g. textiles and wet processing chemicals) and textile wet processes.
  • Able to recognize red flags for critical issues, and escalate them appropriately
  • Have a good network and understanding of key stakeholders in the textile value chain
