About The Senior Mine Planning Engineer (Nickel) Role

Due to excellent results and future expansion plans, you will play a key role in maximising the resources and reserves also calculating the economic standpoint.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess the stability of mine structures, such as pit slopes and underground workings, through geotechnical analysis. Provide recommendations for ground support measures and slope stability management to ensure safe mining operations
• Assist in the development of mine plans that optimise the extraction of nickel ore while considering safety, environmental, and economic factors. Create mining schedules and production sequences to maximise operational efficiency and resource utilisation
• Prepare cost estimates for mine development, including capital expenditures, operating costs, and infrastructure requirements. Contribute to budgeting activities and cost control measures to ensure the project remains financially viable
• Use geological data and statistical methods to estimate the size, grade, and tonnage of nickel mineralisation Prepare resource models that incorporate geological information, grade distribution, and spatial characteristics of the deposits
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies and environmental specialists to ensure compliance with mining regulations, environmental standards, and permit requirements. Contribute to the development of environmental management plans and monitoring protocols
• Collaborate with geologists to analyse geological data, including geological maps, cross-sections, and drilling results. Interpret the data to identify potential nickel ore deposits and determine their quality, quantity, and economic viability
• Contribute to the development of mine designs based on the geological and resource information. Design open-pit or underground mining methods, considering factors such as deposit geometry, rock characteristics, and environmental constraints
• Identify and recommend the appropriate mining equipment, machinery, and technologies for the extraction of nickel ore. Consider factors such as deposit depth, rock hardness, and operational requirements in equipment selection

To succeed in this Senior Mine Planning Engineer (Nickel) role, you will need the ability to optimise the reserve and resources and good numerical skills to know about the economic standpoint.

Key Requirements

• 8 - 10 years of work experience in nickel mining or other mineral
• Good computer literacy (MS Office, Surpac, etc.)
• POM certified or higher
• Knowledge in K3LH and basics of Mine Economy Management
• Fluency in English (verbal and written) with good leadership and analytical skills
• Bachelor's degree in Mining or Geological Engineering. A master's is preferred
• Smart, young, and ambitious
