The Network Engineer is responsible to ensure existing and newly designed facilities meet proper levels of redundancy, diversity and cost efficiencies as well as throughput, latency and QOS KPIs. Network Engineers provide recommendations and justifications to ensure timely delivery of Ethernet backhaul services and facilities for the region. They support negotiating and tracking of Ethernet Service Provider and legacy interconnects. They also develop NPV's for leased versus using microwave systems and coordinate region level projects.

• Two to four years experience in telecommunications preferably with Data Network or Wireless service provider
• Use standard Workflows to complete network installations, changes and disconnects.
• MEF Certification desired
• Monitor throughput, latency and QOS KPIs to ensure required service levels are being met.
• Drive changes in the backhaul provider network to improve network performance and reliability.
• Assist Network Operations during Network Events.
• Reviews test results to ensure performance is within SLA metrics.
• Initiate RFP's and support the negotiation of Master Service Agreements with all backhaul providers.
• Drive vendor performance to ensure adherence to our SLAs.
• Monitor backhaul during natural disasters and support network changes needed to mitigate customer impact.
• Manage all backhaul and interconnection capacity to ensure service margins are being met.
• Forecast network changes needed to ensure ideal customer performance during high capacity/special events.
• Drive Quarterly review with Vendors.
• Provide cost details when budgets are being developed and during recalibrations.
• Be knowledgeable on US Cellular's tools and systems.
• Ensures all design information is accurately documented in Circuit Inventory Database per standards.
• Run After Action Reviews.
• Schedule and run vendor meetings to manage installations of Ethernet and hold them accountable to their commitments.
• Experience with cost/benefit analysis and business cases desired
• Industry experience in traffic engineering, facility management & forecasting
• Designing a network that is reliable with the least cost solution.
• Ensures all network deployments are in compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate periodic network reviews to drive cost efficiencies.
• Organize design reviews to optimize network reliability.
• Understand how the vendor is setting up their network (physical and logical) to enforce our SLA agreements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multiple network modeling tools is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred
• Understanding of contracts, negotiations, and MSO'S preferred
