Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to lead our team. This unique role combines the technical responsibilities of mechanical design engineering with team management, focusing primarily on our hydrogen and biomethane projects.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will utilize your extensive technical knowledge and creativity to design complex mechanical systems and components for our state-of-the-art hydrogen and biomethane facilities. Your role will require the use of advanced 3D modelling software to create and optimise designs that meet our high standards of performance, cost-effectiveness, safety, and sustainability.

A significant aspect of your role will be leading and mentoring our team of Mechanical Drafters. This responsibility includes overseeing their work, ensuring adherence to established design standards, providing feedback, and encouraging professional growth. You will serve as the main point of contact between the drafting team and other stakeholders within our projects, ensuring effective communication and alignment of objectives.

In addition, you will be instrumental in establishing and enforcing our drafting standards and procedures, which will be pivotal in ensuring the consistency and quality of our technical drawings and plans. To effectively manage the team and project timelines, you will need to balance your time between hands-on design work and team leadership tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Utilise 3D design software to create detailed mechanical systems and components for hydrogen and biomethane facilities.

• Develop, establish, and maintain design and drafting standards and procedures to ensure consistency and quality in all technical drawings.

• Build, manage, and mentor a team of drafters, providing them with the necessary training and support to ensure high quality, efficient output.

• Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand the design intent, and translate these design concepts into detailed, workable technical drawings.

• Ensure all drawings comply with required design standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.

• Oversee the drafting team's workflow and project assignments, and coordinate with project teams to ensure all drawings are delivered within project timelines.

• Serve as the main point of contact for the drafting team, facilitating effective communication between drafters, engineers, and other project stakeholders.

• Review and approve all technical drawings before they are released to manufacturing or construction teams.

• Stay current with the latest drafting and modelling software and techniques, industry trends and standards, and provide necessary training to the drafting team.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the drafting team, encouraging feedback and implementing changes to improve efficiency and quality.

• Ensure all designs comply with industry safety standards and regulations, particularly those related to hydrogen and biomethane facilities.

• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, including Process Engineers and Electrical Engineers, to ensure a holistic approach to the design of hydrogen and biomethane facilities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.

• Associate degree or certificate in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience with 3D modelling software, preferably with Oil & Gas or similar plant design.

• Proven experience in managing and mentoring a team, with a focus on promoting teamwork, productivity, and continuous learning.

• Proficiency in 3D modelling software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit.

• Experience in AutoCAD Plant 3D preferred.

• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and construction methods.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Fluent in English with excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

• Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations.
