Job Description

The Bamboo Village Trust is seeking an experienced and passionate Communications Manager to drive the development of the Trust’s communications and outreach strategy and support fundraising and partnership engagement at the foundational stages of the initiative. Within this role the Communications Manager will be responsible for managing a growing network of partners and bamboo champions and driving international publicity and effective communication of BVI’s work. S/he will also support the BVI team to attract donors and scale up its work.


Role Requirement:

  • Manage a growing network of Bamboo Village Trust partners to publicise the work of bamboo champions;
  • Monitor and grow BVI’s online presence and brand;
  • Work with the Trust Fund management team on outreach, fundraising and partner development, including the creation of key promotional materials;
  • Media outreach and identifying opportunities for exposure;
  • Manage publicity, campaigns and events as needed across the Trust’s network of partners.


Eligibility:

  • Experience with fundraising and media outreach;
  • Experience managing a team or network, preferably in a multicultural and fast-paced start-up environment;
  • A strong vision for promoting and growing the Bamboo Village Trust, with creative ideas to expand its reach;
  • Excellent writing skills and experience writing for a wide range of audiences;
  • At least 7 years in a similar communications role working with environmental institutions, donors or projects;
  • Background in agroforestry, bamboo, environment or related field;
  • Languages: native-level English (required); fluency in Bahasa Indonesia (preferred).
  • Experience with social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) and website software;

  • Flexible and solutions-oriented;
  • Detail-oriented but also strategic;
  • A quick learner;


Location: The Bamboo Village Trust is a Singapore-based charity whose team are based mainly in Bali, Indonesia. Indonesia-based staff would be preferred but home working from other locations in South-East Asia is also possible. The Bamboo Village Trust may be able to support visa applications. Please state your location on your application and confirm if visa support to Bali would be needed.
