Description:


The incumbent in this role will be working in our Central Services Construction Department working on Underground Expansion Projects at our Papua, Indonesia site. They will provide guidance and procedures for construction activities, procurement, materials control, project management, focusing primarily on electrical and mechanical activities. Also helping to support start-up commissioning activities by deploying department goals and objectives into projects and programs, communicating results to all stakeholders, and providing advice and feedback to department team to support objectives. They must possess strong electrical/mechanical knowledge.


Additional responsibilities:


  • Coordinate with related parties (e.g. VP, Manager, Superintendents, and Foreman) to liaise, interact with, maintain, and develop an effective, consistent, clear communication and good working relationships between PTFI management and contract labor as well as engineering personnel and other related parties to ensure that there is clear understanding on the awareness of the importance of safety, engineering design considerations, constructability and the effect of cost control and project management.
  • Develop and establish relationships with construction and engineering teams. Provide on the job training and support to construction crews.
  • Assist the Construction Managers with matters of performing and controlling Human Resource decisions and management within the Construction Department when needed (including performance evaluations and personnel development) to improve productivity and performance quality thereby improving overall competency within the department.
  • Review implementation of the work plan to ensure it achieves the program goals in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Review AFE proposal prior to approval by department head to enable early correction and forecast project needs.
  • Communicate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders regarding Construction, QA/QC, Field Engineering and Start-up Commissioning activities to develop understanding and acceptance of company standards.
  • Guide, monitor, and control the implementation of safety standards and procedures within work areas to minimize accidents and damage.
  • Review all business process, performance standards for all resources and method of work in planning, scheduling, executing construction projects and start-up commissioning to promote effectiveness and efficiency. Help update and improve work procedures as required and to perform continues improvement as well as comply with company and international standards.
  • Review project status such as cost, schedule quality and performance and accident reporting to ensure that the project are running well.
  • Provide deep and broad technical instructional support to National Staff & Non-Staff for all relevant activities within the Construction group as guidance to enhance and improve their skills, knowledge, and capabilities to the required level in performing their jobs skills, also to ensure all works comply with international standards, are completed in a safe manner, are within budget, and are on schedule.


Qualifications


  • Computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, & project scheduling software for reporting/training/documentation/diagnostic purposes.
  • Highly proactive and achievement oriented.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diversified workforce.
  • Ability to prepare project budgets, schedules, and cost benefit analysis for project work to determine cost effective solutions.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma preferably in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a heavy industrial environment and mining company, including eight (8) years of supervisory experience.
  • Training/teaching capability.
  • High level communication and presentation skills.
  • Sound technical communications skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written) and willing to learn Bahasa.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Knowledge in QA/QC and Field Engineering for infrastructure in mining industry.

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prepare technical specifications and documents.
  • Strong Electrical/Mechanical Works experience.
  • Ability to train and develop national workforce to advance their professional abilities and pass on technical knowledge to the junior engineers.
