The Role
The AIBI Food Safety Professional role will be required to conduct food safety audits inspections of client’s facility, provide consultation and technical training to management and employees at client’s facility regarding the adequacy of food safety program, integrated pest management, operational methods, personnel practices, maintenance for food safety, and cleaning practices. The role will prepare a written report for management to recap all issues of observations and to provide recommendations for improvement opportunities. Review facility’s corrective actions if required. The Food Safety Professional must be able to be away from home and travel extensively and provide practical and technical support to the food and beverage industry in the areas of food safety operations. Support will be provided through effective in-person and virtual training, consulting, and inspections.
Key Success Metrics
Responsibilities:
- Lecture and or participate in food safety conferences, in-plant seminars and/or AIB seminars.
- Create and execute special projects as assigned or as and when required.
- Partner with the Scheduling Team to ensure a full schedule and organize inspection itineraries for the year and make changes as necessary to accommodate new business, postponements, etc.
- Notify clients of inspection dates, if required.
- Deliver technical training to management and employees in the areas of food safety.
- Deliver on Key Performance Indicators identified as part of the overall company objectives.
- Conduct food safety audits using the AIB Standards and Procedure Manual instruction. Conduct specialized food safety audits when required.
- Participate in internal and external training as assigned to maintain skills and knowledge current.
- Travel to the inspection site and arrange to stay in client's area during inspection.
- Complete expense vouchers for each client and mail to headquarters weekly. Expenses for extended trips that include proration may be submitted by the end of the week following the trip.
- Train personnel in food safety issues, write a report following the audit and send it to AIB within five working days.
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate that will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
- Complete audit reports, expense vouchers and other event-associated documentation in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications
- Maintain a valid and current driver’s license, current automobile liability insurance, and ability to maintain a personal vehicle for business use.
- Experience in B2B food/beverage.
- Must be able to safely work around and inspect equipment, identify insect pests and to prepare inspection notes and reports without assistance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; comfortable with public speaking.
- Adequate level of reading, listening, and written English. Familiar with food industry technical terminologies and jargons.
- Visionary able to make key decisions that will benefit the company.
- Must be physically fit and able to safely ascend to heights, be able to bend, crawl and move safely and freely around machinery and building without assistance.
- Must be willing to travel up to 90% of the time, including weekend travel internationally and the ability to work under difficult conditions in diverse cultural and physical environments.
- B.S. degree from an accredited college or university plus 5 years of experience in food safety or High School Diploma or equivalent with minimum of 10 years in food safety experience.
- Proficient in windows-based word processing and spreadsheet program
Preferred Qualifications
- Food manufacturing operations experience (production, engineering, quality assurance, internal technical audits) in a role related to food safety.
