Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Finance Manager to join our dynamic production house team. As a Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial aspects of our projects, ensuring effective financial planning, budgeting, and analysis to support the success of our productions. The ideal candidate has a strong background in finance, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for the entertainment industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Financial Planning & Budgeting

  • Monitor & control project expenditures to ensure adherence to approved budgets & communicate any variations in term of payment, amount, etc.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to guide decision making during pre-production, production, & post-production phases.
  • Collaborate with producers, directors, & other stakeholders to develop comprehensive project budgets (working budget).


Financial Analysis

  • Prepare & present financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to senior management & key stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial analysis to evaluate project feasibility, profitability, and potential risks.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings & efficiency improvements.


Cashflow Management

  • Maintain relationships with banks & financial institutions to facilitate funding arrangements.
  • Monitor & analyse project cash flows to anticipate & address potential liquidity issues.
  • Manage & optimize cashflow for ongoing projects, ensuring timely disbursements & collections.


Production Cost Tracking

  • Implement systems to track production expenses accurately, ensuring proper allocation and categorization.
  • Regularly update financial records and project cost reports.
  • Collaborate with production teams to reconcile expenses, verify invoices, and approve payments.


Financial Compliance

  • Ensure financial compliance with financial regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
  • Prepare necessary financial information for tax reporting & submissions.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial documents for audits & reviews, working closely with external auditors & consultants.


Team Leadership

  • Manage a small team of finance staff, providing guidance & mentorship, & performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative & positive work environment within the finance team and cross-functional teams.


Forecasting & Strategy

  • Conduct financial modelling to support strategic decision making & growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop long term financial strategies that aligns with the company’s goals & objectives.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in financial & accounting software (eg. Excel & ERP systems).
  • Leadership abilities to guide & motivate finance team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross functional teams and external partners.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a fast paced & dynamic production environment.
  • Proven progressive experience of minimum 8 years within finance with recent responsibilities as a Finance Manager or similar capacity, preferably in the creative or entertainment industry.
  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or relevant professional certifications preferred.
