FULL TIME ENGLISH TEACHER

Are you a passionate teacher who loves educating young learners? If so, you might be who we’re looking for!

As an I CAN READ teacher, you will be responsible for teaching English to students as young as 2.5 years old to 18 years old. You will be guiding your students towards English literacy by teaching them four major English skills (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking) with our unique, research-based method.

Requirements:

• At least two years of related teaching experience, or similar.
• Must have a strong command of the English Language.
• Degree/diploma level qualifications, preferably in Teaching/Education/Early Childhood/Studies/English/ English Literature or Linguistics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• An enthusiasm for teaching young children.
• The ability to operate with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
• The ability to work well with co-teachers, and Centre Management.

Responsibilities:

1. Teach I Can Read Literacy courses:

• Teaching writing skills, including grammar, editing and publishing.
• Teaching reading and comprehension skills using the I Can Read® System.
• Helping children develop social skills and positive classroom behaviour.
• Teaching oral presentation and communication skills.
• Teaching pre-reading skills to children using the I Can Read System.

2. Conduct Assessments

• Teachers will regularly assess students during classes to monitor individual progress.
• Teachers will conduct initial assessments for all incoming students.

3. Communication

• Teachers will keep attendance logs for all classes taught and update Centre Management when a student is ready for promotion.
• Teachers will attend regular Learning Centre Team meetings.
• Teachers will complete the parent’s communication book each week.
• Teachers will maintain regular open communication with parents, through informal meetings, formal meetings, progress and term reports.

4. Contribute to Student Growth and Retention

• Increasing sign-ups – achieved through maximizing the assessment process.
• Minimizing withdrawals – achieved through maximizing the teaching process.
