Curriculum Specialist Jobs

A curriculum specialist’s primary purpose is to create and implement an education plan that meets the needs of students. They make recommendations to teachers in conjunction with the teacher training specialist in regard to the ways in which various subjects are being taught in order to enhance learning.

The role is based in South Bali but travel to other regions is required.

Responsibilities

1. Develops components of Partner school’s (SDN- Government Elementary schools) teaching plans which include curriculum-related programs: Education Technology for Literacy and Numeracy for grade 1 students (using devices and app-based learning), Remedial Literacy and Numeracy for grades 1 to 3, Hybrid Literacy & Numeracy grades 4 to 6, STEM-Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics for grades 4 to 6, English as a Foreign Language for grades 4 to 6.
2. Developing curriculum and animated modules delivered through audiovisual equipment for age-appropriate and culturally appropriate learning activities for each of the above curricula.
3. Ensures the implementation of a comprehensive curriculum through the use of a variety of pedagogical strategies including active learning strategies and student-centred methodologies.
4. Previews, audits, and approves new instructional materials and arranges for piloting by teachers.
5. Aligns curriculum with the core standards of Indonesian curriculum- Kurikulum Merdeka.
6. Work together with the teacher training specialist to organise and provide ongoing training for teachers during the implementation of new programs.
7. Sets the observation schedules; supervises and evaluates teachers in conjunction with the teacher training specialist.
8. Work together with the teacher training specialist to assist with the coordination of instructional support for new teachers.
9. Together with the teacher training specialist coach teachers on best practices in the classroom
10. Together with the teacher training specialist, review and provide feedback for teachers’ weekly lesson plans.
11. Collects and analyses data together with the Data leader for program improvement in conjunction with the Education team and interprets results for program improvement.
12. Provides constant and ongoing evaluations of teaching standards including semester updates and annual revisions.
13. Develops and implements follow-up plans for curriculum revisions and instructional materials adoptions.
14. Investigates and gather resources that aid in the implementation of teaching plans.
15. Maintains documentation and reports including instructional planning, curriculum Implementation and Evidence (I&E) report, and progress report presentation.
16. Oversees testing programs in relation to curricula and analyses the results of these tests.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is deemed as qualifying; Bachelor’s degree is required, and a higher degree is preferred. Practical experience working with children in a formal or informal education setting is desired.
2. Understands principles and trends regarding the development of curriculum.
3. Skilled and knowledgeable in the area of instructional methods and theory.
4. Understands all applicable laws, rules and regulations about the Indonesian Education system.
5. Possesses above-average knowledge in regard to technical writing.
6. Has practical knowledge of various needs assessment and research methods.
7. Skilled in researching and evaluating standards in curriculum whilst adjusting it to the Indonesian Standard Curriculum.
8. Outstanding organisational and planning abilities.
9. Strong ability to work effectively with individuals and groups.
10. Tech savvy (spreadsheets, written documents, computer, email, PowerPoint, etc)
11. Prepared to take responsibility.
12. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
13. Proficient use of the English language (ability to speak, write, and read in English without difficulty).
14. Patience, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity in a changing workplace.
15. A good level of fitness.
16. The ability to drive a motorcycle is required.
