Qualifications Bachelor''s degree JD, MBA or CPA/CA preferred 15+ years of experience in a professional setting preferably in deal negotiations, finance, legal or contract negotiation Strong understanding of the Southeast Asian region Deep understanding of deal and/or contract negotiations In-depth understanding of the professional services culture, operating model and sensitivities around client service in a partnership context Experience with coaching leaders/C-suite executive ability to mentor team members Understanding of global macroeconomics and finance principles as well as basic law knowledge as it pertains to contracting Knowledge of consulting agreements (structure, typical commercial terms, pricing and taxation fundamentals, etc.) preferred Basic accounting knowledge Exceptional reasoning/analytical ability leading to sound decision-making and judgment Ability to balance competing interests while ensuring good outcomes for the negotiating parties Consensus-building management style and credibility with partners Who You''ll Work With You will be based in one of our Southeast Asia office. You''ll work across our practices advising partners on highly complex client commercial issues and work with our Southeast Asia leadership team to take our commercial discipline to the next level of sophistication. Reporting directly to the region''s director of finance with a dotted line to the director of equity investments and arrangements, you will work closely with various leaders to coordinate the documentation and execution of agreements that will ensure high quality commercial contracts, which keep firm interests at heart and reflect our relentless drive for lasting impact and our firm''s values. There may be times where you will need to support other locations across Asia and other regions across the firm. However, your primary responsibility will be to the Southeast Asia office. You will also join all investment committee meetings and occasionally Asia regional investment committee calls to add your experience to the investment discussions with the intention of de-risking the financial arrangements.What You''ll Do You''ll support the negotiation of commercial terms for our global professional consulting services, negotiating large programs and multi-year agreements across the Southeast Asia region. Building new capabilities in the region, you will enhance the way we work with our clients on the commercial elements of our engagements and will bring tangible top and bottom line impact to the firm. Building trust-based relationships with the firm''s partners in the Southeast Asia markets, regionally and globally, you''ll support teams in developing standard commercial and alternative models. Your knowledge of market trends and the ability to identify them will increase our understanding of client positioning in negotiations, provide insights into third party negotiation tactics and enable more impact when advising teams and negotiating. Your other key responsibilities will include building personal knowledge base. You will track macroeconomic trends, global inflation rates and currency fluctuations and support the building and running of financial models to support and further develop negotiation strategies, identify improvement opportunities. Also, you''ll help research and maintain a database of professional services and industry commercial terms (e.g. payment terms, interest rates, compensation levels, renewals terms, etc.). In addition, you will develop annual plans for agreement renegotiations. You''ll support the regional client service teams by envisioning various legal constructs and participating in negotiations, at times leading the negotiations and mediate disputes. You will also participate in and support partners in work-out discussions in the event of a disputed arrangement, in collaboration with legal and other internal stakeholders. Lastly, to drive best practice, you''ll also play a supportive role in partner education of best practices for negotiations strategies, tactics and unique McKinsey issues. This means you''ll support the coaching and training for the client negotiation leaders in preparation for client negotiations and to ensure alignment among the partners and regions, as well as customizing regional training modules.
